Jeez and I thought the discussions about the Pogba transfer were bad now we're back to the Suarez transfer.

Lets do the Time Warp Again!

Question, why are Arsenal fans bitter about the Suarez transfer?

They chanced their arm and got rebuffed by the player who signed an extension for a hefty rise with the promise that he'd be sold the following summer by Liverpool.

They weren't rebuffed by the player. Suarez actively sought out Arsenal, and then when Arsenal made a perfectly legal bid for him, Liverpool brole contractual law and refused to sell.

Not bitter, i was just pointing out earlier how Liverpool have a history of illegal activity when it comes to transfers.

Well the whole situation depends on who you believe. Id say Arsenal were just as guilty as Suarez/his agent.

While its not certain Arsenal played with in the rules, their actions werent all honest and innocent either.

I dont think it was illegal at all but nobody here is up to date on football contractual laws and regulations, however, my understanding is that theres no obligation to sell, even if a buy out clause is activated, the club have to tell the player of the bid and they take it from there.

I always assumed Suarez stayed with Liverpool that year because Barca had no money in the kitty after spending 60m on Neymar, hence the extension and being sold to barca a year later.

Contracts in football aren't worth the paper there printed on, FSG were right to tell Arsenal do one.

And if Arsenal hadn't been so cheeky with their plus £1 bid and bid £45m they would have got him.

Why would they give €5M extra than they need to?

So that they might actually get him, instead of just winding Liverpool up?

In fairness I think it's the other way round. A lot of Liverpool fans have been bitter against Arsenal ever since that bid went in, especially on boards. They were really insulted over the +1£ and haven't stopped going on about it ever since. There is a certain Liverpool poster on boards who has basically made his name around here with his constant Arsenal digs ;)

Some funny going ons in Spain.

Vitolo, who was linked with Chelsea at one point, seemed to end all speculation by signing a new five-year contract with Sevilla the other day. Today, he's been signed by Atletico Madrid for €40m and is being loaned to Las Palmas for the first half of the season as Atleti are banned from signing registering players until January.

A players agent can talk to any club anytime ,he can hawk his player everywhere so long as player or interested club don't talk directly..bit of a farce.

It's only Liverpool who breaks the rules though, just them.

He was think everyone on here acknowledged that the rules of transfers are broken by every club. What Liverpool are really guilty of is stupidity in a few transfers and shocking callousness in the transfer of that kid if the rumours are true.

I wonder will they do somehting similar with Costa or will they sign him and leave him training until 1st January.

probably a discussion for the lfc thread not the transfer thread,it will not affect any transfers nor is it to do with any pending transfers

    .

I don't think that's strictly true, certainly if an agent is agent within the legal meaning of the term.

In being appointed agent for a player, the agent acts on the players behalf and can legally make commitments on the players behalf. Talking to other clubs in this capacity is n breach of the rules. Practically speaking though, it's impossible to prove in what capacity an agent was talking to a club in

No one has a clue what went behind the scenes, just because they won double doesn't mean he should stay at Juventus.

He went from Barca to Juventus, so joining PSG from Juventus isn't a big deal.

Maybe he feels that in the coming season PSG have more chance of winning that City do. In fairness when City played that team that beat PSG in a 2 horse race, they came second too.

Paris wouldn't be my favorite city but its a damn sight better than Manchester. Easy choice for Alves, plus his Mrs will love the shopping etc

You make it sound like Ligue 1 is the same as going to China or America for a top footballer. The league itself may not be ultra competitive, but there's two top teams and they are decent normally in Europe.
