Picked one up in Blackpool, Cork yesterday. I had been on previously to Dunnes Stores Customer Care who was able to tell me where the stock is and where new stock was going to arrive over the coming days.

I rang a store which should have had stock, there was one left and they held it for me until I collected later in the day. Very helpful I must say. Got ?20 in cash and save voucher so total price was ?80. Very pleased with that!

    What other stores had stock?

I've never had a Dyson so I can't compare but I can't really fault the Hoover since I bought it. I can't see the V6 Dyson being that much better that it would justify the price difference though. THe V8 might be but it's crazy money.

I don't see the fuss about Dyson. There was one in the apartment here when I moved in and it was crap.. absolutely no comparison to my Miele (which is now 9 years old and still working like new).

I could do with a cordless one for doing the car though, or are any of those small portable units any use?

I got one of these in Tescos for 100euro last time the offer came up. Its nothing amazing but its decent enough and its well worth the price, especially given what dyson go for. Having used a dyson once while on holidays in a a rental property, the syson is better and you can see where the hoover have saved money when comparing the two, but that in no way justifies the price difference.
I've two dogs so its very handy for keeping on top of their never-ending shedding!
I'd absolutely recommend it at 100euro.

This one converts into a shorter more portable one with the included extensions!

And you're right. Miele make far superior conventional corded vacuum cleaners than Dyson.

So I got one of these for my dad, have to say very happy with it

Question is my dad has it mounted on wall and has it plugged in 24/7 charging when not using it.. This could not be good for battery surely?

In the manual it says it's fine to leave it plugged in just to unplug it if you're away for a long period of time - I leave mine plugged in but if I see it's fully charged I unplug it, doubt it does much if any harm.

I'd disconnect it when charged. Li-ion batteries live longest when they stay between 25-75% charged. They will lose a few more percent per year if fully cycled (empty to fully charged and repeat).

However, the rest of the device will probably break before the battery is toast.

One more question lads sorry, would it be safe using this to hoover out a car? Ya know sometimes there does be small tiny pebbles from feet in car? Shouldnt damage it surely?

Should be fine, I've used it in a car that hadn't been vacuumed for ages, no problems and it did a good job.

Our teenage son used it to clean the car and it survived so it must be near indestructible based on his past history! :pac:

Well the head on mine has packed it in after 3 months. Hoover turns off after a few seconds with it attached. The rotary head isn't spinning so I guess there is no power getting to it. It's clear of any hair or anything so not that. If I remove the rotary part the hoover works fine. I checked the connection pins and nothing seems out of place. Will have to get on to hoover as it should still be under warranty. Disappointing to say the least

Take out the rotary part and you will see hair in there, its usually not visible when attached. There's a button on the side which you press and the rotary part slides out...

Yeah tried that, the mechanism that turns the rotary head isn't even spinning with the rotary head out. I also unscrewed the part with the connection pins and can't see anything wrong.
Had to go out and buy another cheapo vacuum from argos as have guests over tonight

After multiple calls with Hoover going through different troubleshooting steps its gone back to amazon now for a refund. It's a grand hoover if it hadn't broken so quickly with only light use. Going to splash out for a Dyson which is hopefully more reliable

I see this model has gone up in the price in general stores like argos but the improved 'Pets' version has come down to about 149e.

I agree the hoover is not bad, it is a pain constantly having to untangle hair and stuff from the main head and it doesn't get into corners or edges well for hard floors but having a lightweight cordless one is very handy. Next time I would make sure the one I get has a hepa filter and is good at getting into corners.

I see this is down to 109 sterling on amazon. Is it worth the price???

I have it for few months and very happy with it. You can go thru this thread to see how many happy users are there. I bought "used" from Amazon but it was literally brand new. There are good few used ones starting from £75.

Got it for €89 with a Dunnes voucher back when it was €99 -maybe two months ago? The 'old' traditional hoover hasn't been used since, it comes into it's own for quickly hoovering out the car, the garage, small bits in the kitchen, but still good for doing the whole house on a single charge, very happy so far!
