The Saltee Islands

Anyone been?

What's it like?

Any ruins over there?

Suitable for young kids or just adults to poke around?

I know there's nobody living there so no shops etc so people visiting would have to bring everything with them but I'm just looking for some general information.

Been there twice, with my camera gear. Wildlife is the only draw, bird spotters and photographers. Not for kids, lot of dangerous cliffs.

Dangerous for kids and possibly for over inquisitive adults too! No ruins unless you regard the old bird observatory as one or the concrete throne of Prince Michael Neale. Best left to the birds at this time of year.

Would love to visit for a couple of hours and just take a look around.

Fair play to the family who own it for allowing people to visit.

Thinking of taking my camera down at the weekend.

Not positive, but May/June is the peak season for the birds. Pretty sure most of the Puffins will be gone now. The Gannets are tougher to get to, be careful.

Going over in the morning (better weather forecast) ....will see what happens.

If you dont see me on boards in a week...expect the worst:D
