Start again in GMIT

I struggled in first year and it looks like I'm going to fail, I'm looking at my options at the moment, Finance and Economics is along the lines of what I'm doing without the modules I struggled with and I think that class size would suit me better, is it possible to start in first year on GMIT without going through CAO?

What course are you in? If its a business course you can try and pass the repeats and transfer into second yr of Fin & Econ. Or is it completely different?
