anyone know where a nice de-caf pod can be purchased?

Just bought some Caffè Perrucci in Dunnes. It's a Lungo and brand is Euro Caps, a Dutch company. Will taste and post thoughts later. Online reviews seem positive.

Gotta say this is now my non nespresso brand capsule of choice. Very tasty coffee, stronger intensity than the others I've tried. Only seen in one shop though. Also came in espresso and ristretto.

Same price as the Nespresso. Wouldn't bother. Starbucks is the last place I would buy a coffee from while out and about.

    Agreed
I once got a free bag of starbucks beans from American relatives. After two cups I chucked the beans
Taste of burnt coffee and nausea off it!

Looks like everyone is going to be doing them soon.

If you could get a grinder/tamper that packed your own compatible pod, that would be pretty handy!

Did Nespresso's patent on the pods expire or did they open it up to other manufacturers to drive machine sales?

I've a Tassimo myself (don't scoff, I love it) & would love for them to be opened up.

Expired I'm sure. Wouldn't scoff at a Tassimo though never tried it. I've a Nespresso for espresso's and lungos and a Dolce Gusto for Cappuccino, Latte's and Chocochinos. Use both daily and love them both :) (though the nespresso is my favourite).

    Who supplies supervalue / aldi?

    Long shot request. I have a LATTISSIMA+ 520.S.
The milk frother knob has gone missing. To get a replacement it is £30 as I have to buy the whole kit. By any chance does anybody have a broken machine or work for delonghi. All I need is the knob.

    Thanks

Has anyone tried any of the Carte Noire Nespresso pods?

I picked these up on holidays and I loved them, taste amazing

Thumbs up to the Lor pods. Made from similar materials to nespresso so you don't hear the machine struggling like with some other pods. I'd recently gone back to nespresso because the Ethiopian Bukeela lungo was beautiful but Lor comes close or is just as good.

Certainly not the place to buy actual Nespresso capsules - the price is 40% higher than the Nespresso price.

Actual Nespresso, buy them online and collect from a Parcel Motel location - dealing with the people in the shop is a horror.

I'm really liking the L'Or Nespresso Pods on special for €3 for 10 pods in Dunnes at the minute.

Aluminium pods too which IMO makes a huge difference.

The shop (Duke St) is self service. No need to deal with people if you don't like them?

For anyone out the Dundrum direction Nespresso now have a 6 month pop up inside the main entrance....

Right, I bought a machine for the parents and want to include a wide range of cheap alternative capsules for them to try.
What selection should i go for from Aldi, Lidl, Dunnes, some random website etc.?

Aldi capsules have been excellent having used their Risetro for last 6 months. However the recently purchased batch is not good: thin and bitter, lacking smoothness and crema. Has anyone else experience this or know what has happened. Where can they be contacted to obtain information or give feedback?

    Hi,

I have noticed the same with the Risetro lately, but I did find them very good up until this. Maybe it's just a clitch at the moment. I'll wait and see.

I have now gone back to using Lidl pods. I bought their Risettro which was very good, more like Aldi"s pods before their recent quality crash. But best of all Lidl now have Viola Expresso 9 strength..... This is so smooth with solid crema. ðŸ˜႒ I will stick with this and hope they do not change the quality.
