Is anyone else seeing a lot of new gyms around? Obviously they are all grey and inaccessible, but there seem to be a LOT more gyms around town here (Waterford) in place of existing pokestops.

Edit: Just finished walking the length of the Quay here (about a 1km stretch), and where there were 6 gyms in sight along the route, there are now 14!

Not that I've seen, but there are more gyms in D15 than most other suburban locations.

It looks like the gyms will really be the centre of the game now so they had to make them more numerous/accessible. But if it is true you need to gang up with people in real life to advance, at a time set by the game, it doesn't bode well for me being in the game much longer. Otherwise the raids seem like a good idea.

Gyms double as pokestops now afaik. I don't see mention of new gyms?

I reckon the new gyms are because of only having a limit of 6 in each.

Looks likes the raids will just "happen" in game same as a rare mon you may encounter. The 20 ppl (or less i dont think you are going to need 20) will be random trainers from all teams who are going to be around at that particular time and care to raid the gym boss.

There will be a new tab on sightings showing gyms that can be raided.

Biggest news so far - you can now change Fast and Charge attacks!

I transferred a 100% IV Pokemon the other day because it had a sh*t moveset and now you can train them to change their moves :(

Lots of reading there. A big question is approx how many people will you need to take down a Raid Boss? This could be a difficult job outside of the cities.

Bothered by the fact the ace trainer medal will remain but we have no way to make it gold if we haven't done so already.

Any mention about any limits on the amount of gyms you can be in or a max amount of coins you can collect?

You can still only collect a max of 100 coins per day. This could cause issues with the new system of only collecting coins when your Pokemon come home. e.g. if you have four mon in four gyms for six days that might look like 240 coins. But if they all come home on the same day you only get 100 coins; hence lose out on 140 coins.

But it will be to your advantage if you're in and out of gyms all day; you'll get your coins as your pokemon get sent home instead of only claiming once per day.

Max coins you can collect will still be 100 per day according to Niantic. I haven't heard if there will also be a gym "membership" limit.

yep as I wrote previously no more guarantees on 100 coins a day which sucks.

Hope you get the luck that avoided me.
Gilgar x2, Mantini and Pineco have been my last 4. Got 1 going right now, not expecting much from it!

    hatched 3 10k eggs this evening - Gilgar , Mantine , Gilgar.
    Fairly frustrating !

I've had all bar one of my pokemon returned to me. No idea why there's still one out there though.

Didn't have to revive the ones that came back.

All mine came home. I've already powered up the big boys - it might not be the best idea given bigger mons lose motivation quicker but what the heck.

Awoke at 4:30 and was able to claim on 1 gym....went to bed at 1 in 9.

240 coins to last me these couple of weeks.....yikes

Only one new Gym near (a mile away) me, was hoping for a few more but I'll take it.

    There's actually two new ones.

Woke up booted this morning :(
Months and months of my exeggutor defending valiantly, and for what? To be booted by Niantic?

    This is annoying.

    Yes it's annoying.
At least before now, we could guarantee the timing of the cash ins.
This is a premeditated attempt to make us spend real money. And I will NOT!

I managed to claim for 10 Pokémon exactly in gyms at near 11pm last night, having claimed at 21 hours for a couple of nights in a row since I heard the 19th deadline. Glad it paid off!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 453 ✭✭Shiranui

5 am and was able to claim NOTHING.

    Gym still closed I presume?

Noticed a new gym on gymhuntr around the area too.

Gyms showing as grey empty tables for me

I have to say I'm most excited about the fact we can change movesets! How awesome is that!? Goodbye Bite > Twister Gyarados!! :D

The other exciting feature is the new gym system. While higher CP 'mon lose motivation faster than lower CP 'mon, I wonder will CP continue to be the 'be all and end all' of gym retention. Then again, you need your 'mon to be sent back to you in order to claim coins so God knows how this will all end up.

I think its stupid that (from what it looks likes) you do not need strong defenders anymore. In fact a good defender may stop you from getting coins :)

Just on the event in Chicago - apparently region exclusives will be spawning at the event and there will be special 2km eggs from Pokestops - I wonder if the UK and Ireland will get any of these events? I know there was at least one Ingress event in Dublin in the past so fingers crossed.

Might be some kind of bank system though. So if you have 15 pokemon in gym's you only bank 100coins, when a pokemon comes home it cashes out what it put in the bank.
Wonder if they keep the time limit to 21hrs ?

Looking forward to the spreadsheets and tables what will pop up, I haven't a clue when it comes to that stuff.

Sounds good allright, I don't mind regionals appearing here but think people would be upset if any other types of exclusives turned up
