Who to see for a pain in jaw joint

    Hi all. Not sure if this is the right place to post. I've had a pain in my jaw for the last few months and it has recently gotten worse. Do I need to see a dentist about this or a physio. Or would a dentist refer me to a physio?

    I had a molar extraction on the sore side years ago and was wondering if it was an imbalance in the muscles due to this.

    Thanks for any help.

    Perhaps an osteopath. Friend of mine went to one but as it was over a year after the pain started there wasn't much he could do. No harm ringing one to ask anyway.

    Pseudomedicine is not a good idea.

    What you really want is an orthodontist who may refer you to a maxillofacial surgeon, depending on the issues.

    From searching online my symptoms sound like TMD. The orthodontist route seems more up my alley but thanks for the suggestions anyway. This article provided me with good information.
