Interesting what he says before he says that, and also towards the end as well.

Floyd is known to be a poor sparring partner. Errol Spence was rumoured to f*ck him up when he was a pup and then Floyd went out and gave Canelo a lesson.

IMHO 5,000/1 on Leicester City has the bet of the decade wrapped up. I think there was a good few people who had a fiver or a tenner on it.

In retrospect aye. On paper this is the best bet going into an event I've seen in a long time.

Floyd by decision @evens against Manny would be mine. This would be up there for sure.

Funny seeing the smug boxing viewers coming out of the woodwork now, giving sly digs towards MMA and mcgregor, when this is the first time in years that boxing has been relevant.

Using your logic why did he look so gassed in what was basically  a boxing match with Diaz,
McGregor gass is a huge question mark ,
Because it wasn't a boxing match

The rounds were 5 mins long.
By 15mins, they had 2 mins rest, verses 4 mins in boxing.
And there were many grappling exchanges against the cage.

I'm not really sure what you mean by "using my logic". Those are exactly the reasons I mentioned.

Funny seeing the MMA fans saying boxing isn't relevant when the biggest MMA fighter signs up to one to make his money.

when this is the first time in years that boxing has been relevant.

Nonsense. First time in like a month and a half. AJ - Klitchsko was massive. Over a million PPV buys in the UK alone.

The announcement of the Mayweather fight is effectively the announcement of McGregor's retirement from MMA. His career is now over. You have to hand it to him, he has achieved an awful lot in a very short period. Well done sir.

Why would you say it's the end of his career? Because he is making so much money?

People who chase money never have enough. Especially when you are into luxury clothes, cars, watches etc. A lot of athletes and celebrities forget to pay their taxes and they spend way more than what they really have. Running out of money when you thought you were sorted for life is behind a lot of sporting comebacks.

UFC is always going to be a guaranteed couple of million for him so I see him fighting again in the future.

I see Nate Diaz is off again with his attempts at digs at McGregor. A year and a half later and hes still going on about the win.

Does this not say more for boxing than MMA, that they cant produce their own mega stars anymore and have to rely on the superior sport in popularity nowadays, to get a mega fight on the road?

McGregor choking floyd would be the funniest thing ill ever witness in my lifetime.

Dana White on a conference call in 10 mins from now with Leonard Ellerbe from TMT and Stephen Espinoza (head of Showtime). I'll post a link as soon as I find one.

To be honest as a fan of boxing and MMA, and I know you are too, this fight gets me down a little bit. It makes me annoyed that there is a market for this fight. It makes me annoyed that the two of them will make so much money. It makes me annoyed that so much focus will go towards this.

MMA and boxing are two terrific sports in their own right. Sure , trash talk and entertainment value have long been a part of all sports, and combat sports in particular. But nothing like this has ever happened.

Two very rich men have decided to come together and make themselves even richer. Plenty of other people have also decided to make money off this. they have decided that people are gullible and they want to take advantage. I would generally be a very upbeat person but the fact that this is happening makes me a little bit sad.

Not really, the Joshua fight & upcoming Canelo Vs GGG fight are massive and comparable to anything MMA can put on( McGregor aside).

This is a pure money grab by both parties and is in no way realted to the state of either sport.

Both fighters are leagues ahead of their peers in terms of PPV numbers and the freak show side of this fight will help sell PPV's. The reality is the fight has no impact on either sport as it's in no way relevant to the current standings in boxing or MMA

Who is gullible? People pay for entertainment. This is entertainment. Relax and have a bit of fun for **** sake.

Both are even comparable to McGregor imo.

McGregor v Diaz did 1.6 million buys in the bigger US market. I think Canelo v GGG should top that.

Joshua v Klitschko did 1.5 million buys in the UK alone. Amazing number when you think of the size of that market.

Yeah I thought it was something like that but couldn't be bothered checking so played it safe

Sky sports news are already running it as their main story! Guaranteed sky box office so.

I honestly think that McGregor could retire after this. Maybe go into movies or something.

He's gonna make so much money and have much less risk of being badly hurt than he would in the octagon.

As many have mentioned, the build up will be far better than the "fight".

Anyone care to hazard a guess for the time this will be on?
I'm presuming the very early hours of the 27th our time?
    Working that weekend see...

Gullible people are those who try to argue that this fight has some sporting merit. Which it doesn't. It has zero sporting merit. Absolutely none. It is purely an entertainment event, I would class it the same as Big Brother, something which I also despise.

Dana has said that mcgregor will fight again in the ufc this year and defend his belt.

Reckon it be the msg card in november

Dana has said a million things that never happened though. I'll be surprised if we ever see him fight again, outside of a wrestling event with Hulk Hogan.

Reckon he fights again in ufc. No way dana would sign off on this fight without a gurantee that mcgregor fights again in the ufc. Still has to get the cash cow slaughtered which is gsp vs mcgregor

    this could easily bomb.

People can't to be that thick to drop a hundred bucks thinking this is going to be competitive

No chance. Dana and the UFC are getting rich on this fight too. They were never gonna refuse it if McGregor denied them that guarantee.
