Can you borrow a Power supply from someone to see if its the power supply or the console thats not working.

I'll see if I can and try this later.

    No elite controller packaged :(

I knew it was a bit of a reach to want it - but at 500 for just the console I am struggling to justify it to myself. If the Elite pad had been bundled in at that price I'd have probably been sold.

I'm also surprised there was no Halo announcement for One X launch - thought there would be a big chance of it being a major launch title and built to take real advantage of the hardware. The fact there was a master chief helmet rendering in the opening cinematic had me convinced we would see something.

There was three years between halo 4 and 5 and it's only been a year and a half since 5, would have been very surprising to see it as a launch title this year. I'd say we'll definitely see Halo 6 autumn/winter 2018 though and it will come to both Windows 10 and Xbox.

didn't they start taking preorders for the one the day after E3 conference. I would say by the end of the week.

Apparently can't take pre-orders until it's approved by FCC

I thought it was unusual that Halo 5 isn't getting a 4K bump like gears or the other titles. you would have thought that the flagship franchise would have been front and centre for that.

I think that might be down to it not being a Play Anywhere title.

Thats a shocker. I don't see why they wouldn't add it.

Finally. Won't be enough to swap away from my elite, but the smalltown-ness of Microsoft when it comes to bring features to international markets is so frustrating.

I'm a little disappointed that the new console is being sold with a 1TB Hard Drive. :(

Don't think it makes much sense for them to go any higher with the storage space. If they do they have to bump the price, at least this way people have a choice of paying extra for extra storage only if they need it.

speaking from personal experience, Its speed rather than size you want. you should get an external Solid state drive, then never look back. I've 500GB one, and the difference it makes to load times is phenomenal.

that speed could be negated somewhat on the X. The system will have 'up to' 4GB or ram to use for caching important data.

That might help for streaming in game assets but still wont help a cold launch AFAIK
Are they being sold with SSD's?

No, I got an deal on one from amazon at xmas, it sits in an enclosure like an external drive, and I store whatever games I use frequently in it.

Where did you buy the console from? Just cos it's out of warranty doesn't mean you have to take a hit. They should last way longer.

    Insanely small for such power!

The One S is a few MM raiser by the stand but still.

That's it .. got it direct from MS. The attachment in my previous post is the only option on the support page. I'll ring them tomorrow.

I stupidly thought the One controller came with a built-in battery. :P Have 2 controllers, 22.99 seems a bit steep for the plug n play kit, anyone got recommendations?

Have always preferred a good quality, high capacity rechargeable AA myself.

Something I came across on Reddit, I feel should be shared. #InPhilWeTrust

[IGN Interview] For those worried about the lack of AAA first party games on XBOX One, please watch this interview

"So it sounds like Phil was pushing to sort of reset and rebuild the first party developers and redirect how things go, and this is the dip that we're going to experience as they develop new IPs and new teams, and they don't want to announce things too early.
This actually does make me feel a lot better about the lack of AAA first party games, especially with him saying how careful he's being about announcing stuff.
Actually, as I keep watching, this makes me more excited. It sounds like under Phil, we're going to start hearing about things really close to their release rather than a long ways away.
No more "Here's Cuphead/Scalebound, it'll be out eventually maybe I guess 3 years down the line." Instead, it's going to be like it was this year: "Here's Crackdown 3. It's coming out this year." That makes me really excited for where Xbox is heading. We just have to get through this slower year, and then I think things will pick up in a really good way."

I think anyone who thinks MS are in crisis and have no games coming would be very na?ve. Same for those who think there will be no VR\AR on the 1X over the next few years. But it would have been good if they could manage this transition without a year long lull. I think the dip we are seeing now is the gap where the cancelled exclusives should have filled. Fables and Scalebound. I know that's Phil cleaning up the mess from his predessor, but it's still not good.

There's no doubt the 1X is good for all gamers. Sony are in cruise control and playing it safe, you can expect this to give them a kick up the arse - that's good for PS4 gamers. Also, there is more incentive to bring out 4K patches. Witcher 3 for example will also be patched on PS4. There was no hope of that prior to 1X. PC gamers will get better ports. Spencer seems to have a good relationship with Nintendo. He says nice things about them anyway and Minecraft cross play is fantastic.

Edit: Just another point, don't write off the xbox indie titles revealed at E3. Xbox has a very good track record on indie titles so far and where else do people expect new and innovating ideas to come from?
