Tory take Anus from SNP 16% swing

This is not good news for May as the Scottish Conservatives were given room to do their thing instead of following the English line.
Is that a big swing for Anus?

    Chomsky(2017) on the Republican party

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

So farage can see a brexit delay now. And possibly a second referendum.

Says he will be back in to fight it.. calls may fatally damaged. What an interesting few hours.

Breath of fresh air this election

And the end of the day, all that this is going to do, is lead to Prime Minister Boris. The Tories will scrape in, maybe with the help of the Lib Dems, May will be hauled out on her arse and Johnson will be PM.

   . Forgot the 'g' there........

On a more serious note what the status on indyref 2 tonight I wonder? Fading away or still on the agenda if a Lab/SNP plus whoever else grouping can be formed?

The SNP will push for another referendum regardless. Even if they loose seats they will paint it as some sort of victory.

Its shocking that the Labour supporters are booing and hissing when the returning officers are announcing the votes for other candidates.

Happening in most of the results that have been shown live on BBC or Sky.

Labour win Bury North by 3,000+. Was mentioned as one Tories may hold marginally.

He looks pretty glum. Remarkable night. The out of the single market, out of the customs union, basically out of everything form of Brexit so treasured by him and others is no longer certain to be delivered.

Lib Dems will only enter a coalition if they're guaranteed a second Brexit referendum.

Can't see it. Would you get in a bus/boat/train or plane with Boris at the helm? I'd be looking for the emergency glass exit.

The LD will get in bed with Labour, the question is who else SNP, Greens (if the have any seats) and the SDLP, Alliance even. #BrexitSabotage

Kind of amazing, May was certain of a 100+ seat majority 6 weeks ago, now it looks like they are well short of a majority.

So they said in the build-up, but they'll jump at the chance to get back into government - especially Faron. They'll sell the line that they're going to moderate the Tories Brexit negotiating stance and then they'll just lie back and do what they're told.

I don't know, is winning the majority of the seats in your country a victory ?

    There is hope.

The issues here is though Labour have committed to Brexit, which pulled in a lot of UKIP voters. If labour just change their mind, well you can kiss those votes goodbye. Corbyn appeared sincere and genuine and many voters warmed to that, if he changes his mind, he will be cast as just another lying politician.

LibDems are still pro remain, how do you reconcile that?

The results are not in yet.. The SNP will ignore the Westminster result if the end up worse off.

Edit. Another loss to the SNP to Conservative.

They've already lost a seat in Leeds, and Nick Clegg (former Deputy PM let's not forget) is likely to lose his, so they're not going to be relevant.

But the fact that UKIP is gone and the Tories are losing seats is undoubtedly a good thing as it makes a hard Brexit far less likely. This is also very good news for Ireland as the less that changes between us and the UK, the better.

Oh, and the exit poll has been updated, the Tories are going to get 322 seats now apparently and the Lib Dems will still somehow get 13. Labour are now projected to get 262 while the SNP are predicted to do even worse, at just 32 seats.

Negotiate a Brexit deal and have a referendum on that. Certainties under Theresa May such as an 'all out' Brexit are now gone.

Jesus, the way things are going it might be Scotland that keep the Tories in power.

    Two tory gains from snp

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,701 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

So nearly 2.30 before the first reforecast. Tories up to 322 now. With 8 dup they could just make it work and struggle along but it's very dodgy for any length of time.

    Labour down 5 to 261
    Snp down 2 to 32
Lib dems down a few to just 13

BBC have changed their forecast a bit from the Exit poll.

Tories predicted to get 322 seats which means May will hang on. Just a forecast though.

And in an amazing turn of events it will be England calling for an independence vote to be free of Scotland.

Lab implied they'll 'do brexit' if they 'have to' (which at that time they had no position to argue). The LDems are not to be trusted with any promises, ask any student. The SNP love waving the EU flags. Add in a few more smaller parties to get over the line.

Angus Roberston gone to the Tories, unfortunately. I really liked him and thought he was very effective at probing Mrs May.

I mightn't have liked Ruth Davidson's tactics but it's clear she knew what she was doing with the Scottish unionist electorate, she's had a stunning election for the Tories in Scotland.

The Lib Dems have just gained an SNP seat, with Glasgow East expected to go to Labour - that's one of the few predictions about a leave vote that will be proven false (that it would lead to an independent Scotland).

Again this will count against May as it's a victory for Ruth Davidson and the Scottish Conservatives.
