Passable! I'd have gotten an A in higher level back in the day. I wouldn't be as líofa as I was then, but I'd get by. Went to the gaelteacht many summers back in the day. Good times!

Think I snuck an honours A in the Leaving Cert. Which possibly says far more about the curriculum than anything...because I'm embarrassingly weak at it, despite living between Coolea, Ballinskelligs and Dingle. I'd love to see it thrive, I'm a huge admirer of those who learn it and use it, I think Sean O'Riordan was a genius of poetry...but can't pretend to be fluent...

Fair play You are like my cousin.

My godfather is from the Donegal Gaeltacht. His family grew up speaking it. But I can barely understand his English!

Two of the ladies in my mother's knitting group are gaelgoirs :)

I did higher level in school prolly not as good as you though by a long shot :)

I like the way the culture of the language is going now though. TV Lurgan is so colourful. :)

My Irish is very good but speaking it everyday as a teacher helps maintain it. If I wasn't teaching I would imagine my level would deteriorate over the years through lack of use, same with most post leaving certs I would imagine.

Fluent when I left school but seriously out of practice since. Would struggle to hold down a conversation now. Its such a shame.

Have mini me enrolled in a gaelscoil now though and will start some lessons when he starts school. So hope to get back up to scratch then.

Went to a gaelscoil, gaelteacht, seachtainn na gaeilge was always a good few nights away so hope it won't take much to up my standard again.
