Yes, 1929. It came up in a letter from David A that I received this morning. I left him off the list as his sharing the year with Queen Elizabeth has been well broadcast of late.

The last time I dined with Phil and Liz she assured me she was born in 1926. She volunteered this information herself. I would never ask a lady her age.

Typo. 1926 was the year for all. And while Phil and Liz are your imaginary friends David is an old friend of mine since we shared lectures and tutorials many decades ago. He was older than me but starting late on the studies and we hit it off.

On the exact same vein. Who wrote Freedom in Exile, the second of two autobiographies?

    Da Dalai Lama.

It was indeed the Dalai Lama, or Tenzin Gyatso.

    Both volumes worth reading.

    Your question next.

And while we are waiting for Andy Regan to post:

    1. In 1923 Alexandra Kollontai became the first woman to do what?

    And for bonus points:

    2. In doing so she went from where?........

    3. to where?

Wild guess as never heard of her: sail across the Atlantic alone?

I know she was a Soviet Ambassador but I don't know any first from her.

    One point.

    1. World's first known female ambassador.

    (2. of the Soviet Union
    3. to Norway.)

Her second husband was Pavel Dybenko, a lovely fellow. Google him in Wikipedia if you don't believe me.

    Your question, Autumn Harsh Cloud?

    Your question, Srameen?

I thought Diana Abgar was recognised as the first female ambassador for Armenia to Japan 1918-20.

What animal has the longest recorded pregnancy, or gestation period?

Which one? I'm not saying it is a whale, mind you.

One of the big ones? :pac:

Alternatively, elephants. Or giraffes. Giraffes are good, too.

Seriously, though - I remember hearing of an animal that can put its pregnancy/egg production on hold indefinitely, until the conditions are right. Unfortunately I don't remember what animal that was, or even if it was indeed a mammal.

This is a straightforward, not paused or delayed, pregnancy.

    Edit: Two points actually.

I thought Diana Abgar was recognised as the first female ambassador for Armenia to Japan 1918-20.

Diana Abgar was honorary consul in Japan of the short-lived Republic of Armenia which was recognised by Japan and almost nobody else.

    Awh. :(

What about my two other options? Any of them?
