I'm not getting bored, but I find I play now only to cash in my gyms and retake them if I get removed
I also get my streak each day.

But I'm not playing for hours on end like I used to. I only watched gen 1 as a child so I find this less of a nostalgia kick and more an adult walking around catching cartoons.

After the event a return to so many murkrow sentret pidgy and swinub is hard to take. I spread my walking over quite a few to bolster their candy so I have porygon on 47/50, omanyte on 43/50, Nidorina on 97/100 and Ivysaur on 87/100. Walking them will keep me interested regardless of the dregs I'm catching.

I'm not getting bored, I just haven't had much to say :P

I'm at 224 caught now with 1 more ready to evolve. My plan is to find some new nests and also walking a few more km to finally get my Tyranitar.

Ahm a bit bored waiting for an event. Yesterday when walking home, there were only Natus and other crap so I was only in it for the points and the egg boiling.

Any word on the next event btw?

Been bored with it nearly from day 1 but I'm a completist and a creature of habit....to a point I try and collect the gym coins every 21 hours even if it is middle of night.
But there isn't anything really challenging or exciting about this game....yet I play

If you asked I'm I still enjoying the game the weird thing is, that my answer would be Yes.

Yeah its not that Im bored, more like progress is very slow.
Im sitting on Level 37 at the moment, completing Dex was never a primary goal for me.
I can destroy any gym by myself and cannot defend any gym by myself.
Im happy with the game still doing a lot of walking (as its the sure fire way to accumulate the needed candy).
Will likely hit up some nest over the weekend with my son.

I am hoping for some great events and really really hope they do not break gym system / fighting system.

At this stage, it's more building up the top mons, either walking up candies or ever so slowly building up dust needed for power ups, the level grind is nuts though, been on 34 for what feels like forever, even with evolve runs only seeing the bar move up a bit each time it's tough.

But on the bright side, legendaries coming during the summer with pvp battles, something to look forward to :)

not bored, but not 100% engaged in it either. Collecting streaks/coins, don't really go out of my way anymore. Waiting for the next event really.

I have one last trip to my Magikarp nest planned for this afternoon (nest change tonight) - please please give me a damned Shiny Magikarp - I worked out that I've caught about 550 Magikarp since shinys were introduced, average is supposed to be 1 every 250-300 so I'm well overdue!

I dont know if the gring is nuts.
Did you play any MMO before this?
I remember grinding in Priston Tale and it took AAGEEESSS to level once you got past the noobie stage.

I can't even work out how many poke stops you have to spin for that!

So youve had no social life the last few days huh. I take it a few mass evolves took place then

I think the grind/reward ratio in this is a bit off though, the grind at endgame in any MMO really is with a view towards progression, a kind of bread crumb trail that leads you and incentivises you to keep going.

As someone mentioned above, most players above maybe 30 can take down any gym, nobody can be sure of holding a gym under any circumstance. Obviously the entire gym/battle system has never borne any resemblance to any pokemon game, but it goes further than that, it bears no resemblance to any tactical battle in any game, it just isn't fun.

Very little reason for me to grind past the mid 30s, a little extra headroom to up the CP of my pokemon? Just doesn't seem that important to me, sure I'll up the CP when I get to those levels but I couldn't be bothered chasing levels to do so.

On the collecting side of things, most people who play it every day are completed or within maybe 5-10 of completing their dex, for a lot of people it's an unholy luck based grind toward the likes of Ampharos.

The same old inequalities still ring true as well, someone in Florida could conceivably in the same day catch three different regionals, half the world has no regionals, the European regional is super common but I'm going to be in California for 3 weeks and by the sounds of things I'll be very lucky to catch a Tauros.

The water event is another example of this, it was a complete write-off for me (I know that's only a personal experience, went better for others), because of biomes whereas the rock event delivered on it's premise.

Outside of events it's hard still for rural players to get any enjoyment, that can be extended to smaller towns and cities, we have 3-4 nests in Waterford which are consistently garbage.

I'd usually walk between 10-12 km everyday anyway, now I just do it with my phone in my hand :pac:

edit - Just checked and 328 poke stops

I had one mass evolve with a lucky egg last night and timed it so my eggs hatched. I got about 45k I think

If I'd have used all my lucky eggs doing that I'd probably a lot more xp. I wasted most of my stardust/lucky eggs/incense and evolves the first couple of days not knowing any better.

Yeah I'm done with the game right now, only need unown and can't forsee getting that, I'll log on again when I go the states in three weeks to get the regionals

Im a bit behind you. Am still walking my Larvitar (need 55 more for Tyranitar) and need 20 candy more for Ampharos. Picked up my last needed evo item on Monday so can evolve Sunkern tonight or tomorrow.
Then its just Unown to complete my Eurodex.

    229 Caught/ 235 Seen

Hitting my first real lull in interest since the last event ended.
Mostly interested in the filling PokeDex rather than gyms , on 225 now , a lot of remaining ones required 100km+ walking for candies and getting frustrated at a lack of a Mareep to date.
Looking forward to whatever next event is !

Left a corsola in malahide for anyone interested in filling the dex. It's at the clock tower beside the water.

There was a time when I had to have a 1:1 Caught:Seen ratio but that time has since passed thanks to people like you :P

Joking aside, fair play on the Corsola catch. If I'm out that way I'll pop over and add another seen 'mon to the list! :D

Congratz, Level 20 pops rather quickly, but its quite important - also say hello to Ultra Balls.
    Next important milestone is 30.

I'm up to level 36 and still not half way to level 40!! I have just over 9.27 million XP of the 20 million needed!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,105 ✭✭✭Thirdfox

Would people generally prefer to see Heracross or Corsola? I have Heracrosses up the wazoo but only realised Corsola was a regional at the end of my miami trip so only have 6 stored up. Heracross I have 20 I think ;)

In the US I was popping Mr Mime into every gym there - some lasted a while too :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 114 ✭✭Davmcgoo

Haven't seen corsola or heracross yet, or unown! They common to see in Dublin gyms?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Music Moderators, Regional Midlands Moderators Posts: 24,160 Mod ✭✭✭✭Angron

I've seen Heracross and Corsola, I just can't remember where or when I did.

Heading up to Dublin on Friday, so hopefully I'll get some decent stuff, and I'm just about to hit 32 as well. My current buddy is a Grimer, on 23 of 50 candy to get my first Muk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 273 ✭✭Jfrost

Saw a Heracross down here in Virginia.....was going to leave it but then thought "Feck it" and ripped the Instinct gym down, yet to see a Corusa or Farfetch.....excuse spellings but I couldn't be bothered looking them up :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,331 ✭✭✭AMGer

Haven't seen Heracross in a gym for at least 6-8 weeks - never seen a Corsola

I suspect there'll be an Unown event some time. Some people would like all 26 and that's impossible without cheating, and even one is extremely unlikely. I've got all without Unown too and am just catching stardust at the moment.

If any of you had an 80%+ Tyranitar, now at 2184CP but with Crunch as its mani move, would you bother powering it up further? I have 10 candies at the moment and figure I'm unlikely to get another Tyranitar so might as well power it up. Or I use the stardust for something better, like my good Snorlax or my Ampharos.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 453 ✭✭Shiranui

I would power this Tyranitar. Crunch is best defensive move.

BTW I have high hopes for Shuckle after the gym rework.

Huh, seems a small park near me is a sort of starter spawn point. At varying times over the last few months I've caught Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander there. Not really often enough to be a nest, but it's still nice enough.
