Save money on expensive skydiving by wearing goggles, putting a fan on your desk, and scrolling really fast with your mouse button while on Google earth

Who owns the sattelites, how many (is it known) are there and what is their function?

Many governments and state agencies like NASA, EUMETSAT and MBRSC for example, along with many private companies.

    Thanks.
It sounds complex. All satellites photograph the earth? What about GPS and that real time bus timing setvice ? Those as well?
