Alan Wake will be disappearing from Steam (and other outlets I assume) in a couple of days, due to the music rights expiring. So they're having a "Sunset Sale" with 90% off before it vanishes. The discount goes live sometime tomorrow, and will bring the game down to €2.80ish.

Think I'll pick up a copy, looks gooD!

One question though - I just bought the bits for a budget build for the girlfriend who loves horror movies and games, this seems right up her alley, but they won't be here until next week. If I buy a copy of the game on the secret Steam account I've made for her since she doesn't have one yet, authorise it etc so it's locked into her library etc... will I still be able to download it after it disappears from Steam or would I effectively just be throwing €2.80 in the bin?

I'm pretty sure you will be able to play it. They are hardly selling a game you can only play for 2 or 3 days.

You can download games after they've been removed from steam, there was a discussion elsewhere on boards about it recently

It wasn't so much about not being able to play it in 2-3 days, but not being able to install it had you previously purchased it (crossed my mind that a few people noticed a couple of games missing when looking at the Steam hours tracked playing thingy a month or two back). It's likely going to be at least Friday before I can put her computer together so can't download it until then.

Cheers for the feedback from yourself & DS, though! :)

Hadn't even heard of it before reading the post about the sale, but at €2.80 it certainly looks worth a punt... I much prefer these types of games to be first person as tends to be more popular with them these days, but it does look to set the tone and atmosphere very well.

The atmosphere in the game I found good, the gameplay though let it down imo. I got bored and didn't finish it.

One of my fave games. The graphics are beautiful. And the flashback scene......I was in awe.

They were having a different deal each day. I suppose there's a chance they might do an encore at the end?

Buy that quickly. It's being removed from sale due to music licensing issues.
