Childminder

Hi folks.
Just looking for a bit of advice.
Soon enough we will require a child minder.
This will be for a 6 month old baby and two children aged 5 and 6.
We will require the child minder from 7:30 to 4:30 3 days a week.
The 2 older children will have to be dropped to school at 9:00 and collected at 2:30.
We live right beside the school so minding in our own home would make more sense.
Can anyone advice on what we can expect to pay per day?

We have a minder in our home, we had to register as employers and sort out tax and PRSI with revenue. You'll have to pay minimum wage at least, in Dublin where we are the rate for a minder in your home is anywhere from €10-€15 ph. Then there is employers PRSI on top (about 10% for ease of calculation).

Thanks for that.
I was wondering would it be cheaper to put the baby into a crèche each day and pay for after school care for the lads.
I think that might be the better option.

It depends on what suits you. We had our children with a minder in her home, which was cheaper, then our circumstances changed so we went with this option. It is more expensive and there are upsides and downsides no matter what you choose.

Depending on here you are a creche will be about 800 for a 3 day week and after school 5 euro per child per hour.
A childminder in their own home might be the most economical option.
