Hard Drive On Mac Mini probs

    Bought a mac mini in 2013 and recently had a lot of problems with it...
    Really badly slowing down
    Brought it into CompuB and it turns out the HD was failing, they say it lasts 4 years before they start to give trouble, anyway a very helpful chap in there applied under EU law for me to get it fixed and it turns out instead of costing me the 248 or what ever price for a new HD... this EU law form worked and Apple paid for it and I just had to pay 28 euro !!! Win Win

    Thanks to the excellent staff at CompuB for the heads up.
    Ill def be going back there again:)

    That is very fair. I certainly wouldn't have considered a Hard Drive being covered.

    Fair dues to CompuB, though I have to wonder if whether they'd be so helpful if you bought the Mac from them and it was theirs rather Apple's pocket that they were reaching into to pay for the repair.

    And Apple are just as helpful pointing out the SoGA to people when they have bought from re-sellers...All good anyway, the consumer benefits.

    Contribution to cost of HD and fitting? It was 4 years old.

    I'd be thinking the 28 was to cover the cost of evaluating the problem and applying to Apple for a repair under consumer law, etc. Burden of proof is on the consumer, so I assume the seller doesn't have pay for that.

    Considering when I first whet for repair to see their Blanch store gone I dropped into Currys for them to inspect it and to be told they'd have to send it off to UK and get it back in 2 weeks... without a mention of my EU law I consider it a worthwhile exercise !!!
