Not so sure about that. They've given that privatise everything GP his own soapbox every week.

15 minutes a week doesnt balance out Matt Cooper/Gavin Reilly/Sarah McInerney/Chris Donoghue leftie, do-gooder PC narrative for 25 hours a week across both stations.

Bloody hell, even George Hooks 10 hours a week wouldnt come close to balancing that out;)

Eds Songs of Praise is the best show by far on Today FM.

Particularly liking tonight's show. Fine weather, fine music.

I must say, D'arcy is actually growing on me slightly. Still talks a bit of sh1te but not as bad as before and he seems to play a decent mix of tunes.

Completely agree with this. Far less annoying than he was and good mix of tunes!

Maybe it's because he's sandwiched between the two most irritating people on earth, so he doesn't seem as bad. But yes I'd have to agree.

Anyone notice how he's been left out of the tv add? Perhaps they don't plan on keeping him around? Just strange they feature all the presenters from Ian - Louise but not him. I could be reading waaay to much into it also

Time is money and the ad is already 40 seconds I guess...don't think 2.30 to 4.30 is a priority slot...besides he has been doing well figures wise. It seems obvious to promote Ian and Matt as they are the flagship shows, D&D are new to the slot and Al Porter is new to the station (unfortunately) so that all makes sense. Louise is purely at the end to hit back at the digs at Today FM for their no women on the daytime schedule. I think D'Arcy is there to stay unless 2FM poach him somewhere down the line.

Wasn't he doing that play in Galway when they filmed the ad in that studio in Wicklow. I remember Ian and D&D mentioning doing some work together and I'm sure Darcy was off at the time....no loss as it's bad enough hearing him on the radio, I dont know if I could manage him on the TV too.

I saw him on the Six o'clock show last week and I really thought he came across very badly.
He seemed totally out of his comfort zone.

He came across very patronising- like almost lecturing Muireann on what it takes to be a successful radio host. He thinks he's great.

So - what would your ideal line up be?

I never liked Dempsey. He has zero personality. Whenever they play a clip of his show it is either Gift Grub or boring as dishwater. Nothing against the guy - he seems harmless.
    I've no problem with D&D.
I've no problem with Cooper. He could be a bit better but overall..
    I'd like Pet Sounds back.

Don't mind Dempsey - would've rather had Anton in the 9 spot, D&D back at Lunch , Muireann where D'arcy is , leave Matt alone despite him going a bit too left/Pc ,have Ed Smith or Muireann or put Paul Mccloones show earlier or even the Cathal guy (he covered her Around Xmas) where Duffy is in (maybe it's just me but at times she sounds she wants to be elsewhere) and end with Mccloone

some of the stations new jingle sound like 2fm's from 15 years ago. it doesn't suit the station IMO

Another silly Today FM ad campaign has been released: "Oh it's on" (supposed to be about the station challenging 'on-line trolls', am I missing something here how they came up with the name?)

Is it supposed to make you go and listen to the station!!!?

    it's very strange

Tara Harrison was filling in for Phil Cawley on Friday. Formerly of TXFM I believe. She sounded far more natural doing that Anthems show than Phil does IMO. Phil is great on Saturday but since 80s was canned Friday's sound a bit forced. Might make sense to give her the show full time and let her make it her own. That is based on 2-3 hours of listening, so take that with a pinch of salt obviously.

That would be an agreeable solution for presenter and listeners alike.

Maybe she could tag along on holidays with Dermot and Dave. They're gone again this week!

Or have muireann replace her if they're desperate for the having a female on the radio

Cannot for the life of me understand what the problem with Louise Duffy is.

It's a great show with a brilliant mix of music. I also find I get a massive sense of relief after having to endure the Last Word when I hear her.

I'm the first to give out about the modern presenter but I find Louise Duffy very good. Plays good music doesn't wither me to much and is infinitely better than the Nicky Byrne Alison F-ing Curtis Al Porters of this world.

I really enjoyed Louise's show tonight, for the first time in a while. I thought she got off to a great start initially in this slot, but then Today FM playlist started taking over which I find very jarring after Matt, not to mention that they run the same songs ragged throughout the day.
Lately I've been switching over as soon as the regular crap is churned out, it was a pleasant surprise to remain tuned in until 9pm. More of this please Today FM. Allow your presenters to have their own input and stop directing so much!

I too have begun to leave Today FM on longer after the last word. She is a lot easier to listen to when she isn't trying to force the fun with someone. Very simple formula, name the song you are going to play, play the song and then name the song you have just played.
