Have a Nextbase 302G dashcam. Battery now failing to hold it's charge - you charge until battery icon shows full - minimal use without external power gives you the low battery message.

Contacted Nextbase. It is out of warranty. They will send a replacement battery free of charge to a UK address. Otherwise, send it back for attention by them at £31.

Opened up the unit myself. Located the battery. Does not look straightforward to replace !

    Any suggestions please ?

If the job doesn't look straightforward let the experts do it. Including postage it'll still probably cost you less than 50 Euro.

I should have explained that in more detail.

I can access the battery pack easily enough. What I cannot figure out is how the battery is attached to the unit. It looks like it is soldered in which case I will leave it alone. I did not want to tug at the battery for fear of damaging any other components.

Can you post a picture of it? Unlikely to be soldered to be honest, unless its a very small unit. Could be a small catch to remove it or a push in connector.

If you do decide to desolder, remember to be very careful to avoid jumping the pins and short circuiting. Large bang ahead of you if you do.

Sorry for being a dullard but why not hard wired with permanent power supply?

Yes, thinking about doing exactly that.

This just arrived today in post, anybody else has this one? Read some reviews but they didn't say how exactly the wifi function works.

I just replaced the battery in my G1WH. It was stuck to the board with a double sided pad. I used a craft knife to cut through the pad to avoid pulling at the board. The wiring was simple: 2 wires to be soldered.

The cam was acting up with the old battery, but the new battery has it working like new again. I used a higher capacity battery as the old one was a bit low for the task it has to perform on shutdown.

Hi guys. Got a dash cam today and have a few small queries if anyone could assist. Where's the best place to fit the mount on the windscreen and how far do you tilt the camera to get the best view range? I've looked at various different things online but they're all different, and the people I dealt with in the shop were about as helpful as a plastic spoon for digging a grave.

Second, a car sticker saying "warning, this car is protected with a dash cam" or something to that affect was included in the box. Is it a legal requirement for that to be put on the car (rear) window? Did not even know such a thing existed until I saw it.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers. Originally posted this elsewhere but was directed here.

I haven't gotten it fitted (yet) in case that's got any sort of consequence with regards to the positioning on the windscreen, I'm just manually plugging into into the socket for now.

I had mine fitted and the guy has it tucked behind the rear view mirror (not fully) which is fine. Obviously it should not be a distraction and will go off anyway after a set time (if you choose.)

Try a few angles to see how it looks, test clips but try not too upward or you may get too much glare from the sun.

up high, ideally behind your rear view mirror so it's not in your line of sight (it'll also be at your eye level)
You want to set the camera so the road/cars in front of you are in roughly the middle of the screen, if this means the bottom 30% of the camera is looking at your bonnet, then so be it, as if you point it upwards to 'see more stuff' you'll only be seeing more bright sky which in turn will darken everything else in the picture as the camera tries to find a good balance.

No requirement, throw the sticker away, it's only going to draw unwanted attention to your car (don't advertise any expensive things in your car)

Perfect cheers for that. Yeah that was my main gripe with that sticker, last thing I want is to draw attention to something valuable worth stealing. One of the reasons I didn't get it fitted, don't have much interest in using the Parking mode at all. Gonna just unattach it from the mount every time and store it in the glove box.

I wouldn't bother as eventually the connection to the mount will loosen, and it would be a pain in the hoop having to keep taking it down and put it back up every time you went for a drive (unless it was magnet held like the DDPaI M6).

I've had 2 dash cans mounted in my car for over 2 years now and have never taken them down for security reasons.

From outside looks like a clone of G1W-ish.

Get one from Aldi and return it if it turns out to be complete rubbish...

That just looks like a cheaper version of a G1W, which can be got on Amazon for about £35
(The G1W is a solid camera, about 3/4 years old at this stage)

Took a punt on this one.

Haven't used a dash cam in a while, and the wifi feature looks useful.
