What happened to that likeable guy, the funny quick witted philosopher? Now we are left with this maniac who just shouts Fu!k as loudly as he can, no class, no humour (at the moment)

Agreed. He was better when he was creative with his promos and showed a bit of a philosophical and spiritual side. Now's he's a Mayweather clone. Constantly talking about money and enforcing the "The Irish can't string a sentence together without using **** in every other word." stereotype.

After watching AJ and Klitsch on Saturday it kind of puts Conor in perspective. I saw some of him in Manchester recently screaming expletives into the mic like a feckin' baboon. His carry on doesn't really add much to the sport does it. Saturday night was two gentlemen showing the utmost respect for each other before and after the fight. It was absolutely wonderful and I hope Conor takes something in from how they carried themselves.

Its a shame. Conor was such a likable character before he totally blew up. Nowadays he doesn't seem to do anything unless he is plugging or promoting some sh!te to make a dolla. He used to do some funny stuff on twitter and have a laugh, put his funny side across. He is all serious now and just promoting his cardio workout/reebok/game/app/emoji/fights/etc/etc/etc.

In his defence I've never seen him be anything but completely respectful to his opponents inside the octagon after a fight.

You'll be disappointed in the build-up if Joshua v Fury gets made so! Trash Talk City...... Same when Joshua fought Whyte! Whyte was calling him a scumbag and a fake nice guy and all sorts.

This idea that boxing or MMA are gentlemanly sports is a strange one. Martial Arts is certainly a respect-based pursuit and Conor always shows that win or lose. But they are building up to a fight where they're going to punch and kick each other in the face - there's nothing wrong with aggro in the build-up. For every Anthony Joshua or GSP (reserved, respectful, quiet) you'll have a Conor McGregor or Tyson Fury.

It'd be boring if we didn't have all sorts of personalities.

    They're selling the fight.

It's prize-fighting for millions, depending on the number of people who pay to see it. Simple as that.

Joshua trained at Klitschko's camp earlier in his career and sparred with him, it was never going to be anything but cordial .......it would be a bit like Conor fighting Artem at a big event ..........and I must say if everyone acted the same, smiles and handshakes and only speaking when spoken to it would be a pretty drab afffair.....they're fighters for fuks sake ......McGregors style is what makes him unique, being Mr Nice guy would not have gotten him to the level he got to ....certainly not as quickly

Yeah I know all that, it's just he had a certain charm to his brashness before, which seems to be all but gone now

No its not like Conor fighting Artem. Joshua spent 3 weeks there and sparred about 30 rounds over that time. Fury did something similar when younger and he didn't do the trash talk.

The different fighters do different things. Bellew is similar and gets himself in 'fight mode' pre to a fight. Gets you far more hyped when there is that passion.

The questions about both athletes where what peaked the interest in that event.

Big question is who's a bigger star out of McGregor and Joshua. Lots of variables really - and Joshua has only just starting to make waves in the US.

I reckon Joshua will make more money over the course of his career. He probably got paid around the same if not more for this weekend than McGregor did for Eddie Alvarez. And the sponsors and brands that are aligning themselves with Joshua have far more interest in him than they do with McGregor - proper big brands that are partnering up (Beats, Underarmour, Lucozade, etc)

Some big brands have been keen on McGregor and he most likely isn't short of offers - much less recently which could be as much his own decision as anything I suppose. Or them distancing themselves.

Chris Eubank had a big fall out with IFLTV about swearing on their content and how it can put off the corporate ££. He might have a point.

I agree there's a bit of charm missing at times lately but it must be hard living up to the expectation that you're always going to deliver memorable one-liners in Pressers. His actual words haven't changed a whole lot though he was talking about money, PPV's, Gates the whole time - it's just a slightly nastier delivery these days!

Some of his best moments have been the off-the-cuff stuff. Obviously the "Who the fook is that guy?" line with Jeremy Stephens or when he was corrected by a Brazilian journalist on the pronunciation of Jose and replied "I'll say it how I wanna say it!"

Actually The Time Is Now presser was a breakthrough moment in some ways. They put him at the back of the stage and he stole the show from the bigger stars.

Whereas I agree with you, some of his pre-scripted lines fall a little bit flat. "The only weight I care about is the weight of them cheques, and my cheques are always super-heavyweight". He tried to say that above line twice in the original Diaz presser and had clearly been practising it in front of a mirror or to his dog on the couch at home.

First up his opponent has one of the best names in MMA - Galore Bofando.

Second up, he holds one of the best highlight reel KO's in MMA.

Lastly, I really hope Conor, John Kavanagh and SBG know what they're doing because Charlie was absolutely battered in his last fight and they've just tossed him another powerful kickboxer, instead of a grappler he could just wrestle for 3 rounds.

This Bofando guy is in his 30's now, was a pro kickboxer and from what I can make out he's a "5th dan black belt in Mugendo Kickboxing" (doing it 21 years) and a purple belt in BJJ.

Apparently the reason he hasn't been signed to UFC/Bellator before now is that he's a bit of a dirty animal/scumbag. His record is technically 5-2 but in his only 2 losses he was battering both opponents before deciding to knee them in the head while they were on the ground for DQ Losses. He gets warned by the ref almost every fight for kicking his opponents in the nuts and in 2 of his KO wins they were out cold before he decided to rain down more punches a la Hendo v Bisping.

He's effectively undefeated and a nutcase. Good luck Charlie.....

The only thing Ward will have on him is weight, your man's previous fights were at welterweight. They are really throwing him to the wolves though haha

This isn't looking promising. I'd have preferred the UFC and SBG to campaign for an easier style opponent for him - A wrestler or BJJ specialist. The last thing he needs after a brutal defeat is to take on a kickboxing KO-artist who looks like a mini-Yoel Romero in build.

Just when we might have something to actually discuss instead of re-hashing the scoring from the Diaz fight and how he "ducked" Frankie :pac:

Conor McGregor having a child, the sex of the child, the name of the child or the colour of the child's hair are not things for fans to discuss, they're the preserve of fanboys.

Exactly. I am a Manchester United fan but Idgaf when Rooney has kids or if he does. Just want to see him play football and I just want to see Conor fight (Preferably in an Octagon)
