It's amusing how 'triggered' that kid Chris becomes by President Trump.

He has such tunnel vision in relation to him. It's kinda of cute really.

He's a like little "nancy" as my mother used to say.

He'd see the likes of Trump as the succesful big alpha male. The type of guys he felt inferior to in school.

I get sooo frustrated when I even hear Barry Cowen on the radio, more for the fact that they would vote that other clown's brother back in.... And he is such a disingenuous ******** as well. Absolutely hate him.

CD: "And are you sure there wont be fines in the future".
BC: "yeah we have had advice on it".

Same as the brother and his soft landing... ARGGGGHHHH

At the start of the show, they read out a couple of texts from listeners that were questions they would like asked. Then, he didnt go anywhere near them in the interview! He was incredibly soft on Cowen today.

Does anyone know the name of that wagon who comes on for the TV and film reviews? I don't mind drivetime that much, although when I think of it it seems like I'm only torturing myself because there's so much about it I don't like.
That agony uncle for business, gawd, it's so boring. Sarah can't string a sentence together, she makes the other guy look good.

Her name is Naomi McElroy, I like her reviews.

Can't understand her. Sounds like she has a dozen eggs in her mouth when she talks

She needs to chill the f*ck out I think. She spoke about how ugly she was and how awful her nose was for about 20 minutes today. Get over yourself we don't care!

I enjoy this show overall. I actually like Sarah way more than Chris but seriously, you have to question the type of "journalists" we are producing when they don't know how to pronounce "Arkansas". I would have thought most people are familiar with a former president from a little known city in Arkansas!

She trips over her words way too often for a long term job in live prime time radio.

    Ditch Henry please

If it's not on Facebook they don't know it.

    Ditch Henry.

    This station never gets old.

Discussion on a 3rd level loan scheme and they manage to find a student from Tipperary who has a family home in Dublin to live in, and works part time in a role related to their degree.

They then go on to interview American students and centre the conversation around the size of US fees relative to Ireland, without even mentioning other EU countries with lower fees than Ireland, for example, Netherlands, Spain, France, Austrian, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg. There are more. Not to mention the Scandinavian countries where 3rd level education is free. And not free in that you pay thousands Irish style free. But free.

They really are a piece of work.

I find that sarah gets the backs up of loads of the people she interviews, those that she thinks need a 'grilling' or should be held to account. She kinda goes into 'bitch mode': constantly talking over them and interrupting in a really petty way, in high pitch. She asks a question and doesnt allow for an answer. I've heard at least two people say 'I thought you would allow me to talk, to give my opinion.

She was interviewing some prof today from oz or NZ regarding student fee's

He kept pulling her up on facts she was getting wrong about _our_ current fee's system. Do some bloody research a guy on the other side of the planet knows more about our local issues than she, bloody embarrassing.

Has she drink taken during that interview ? Toe curlingly bad

Contrast the student loan fee discussion(s) on Newstalk Drive to Today with Sean O'Rourke where he provided a fair, balanced and informative discussion when interviewing the main economist designing the system from Maynooth University. Newstalk really is amateur hour with Chris and Sarah and uncle Fester.

What is this rubbish about mannequins being too thin? It's a bloody mannequin - not a person. Are people really that pathetic that they're jealous about a mannequin s bodyweight.?

Is anyone else slightly disturbed by the way the media are promoting body positivity, no matter what size? On the cover of one of the Sunday independent's magazines last week there were 5 or 6 morbidly obese people on the cover talking about how proud they are of their bodies. It's disgusting and irresponsible.

BTW that text from Eoghan was me!

Sorry dude. Turned it off when Henry McKean started talking about window shoppers or whatever.

Can't be wasting my life with that.

I started listening today and realised again that I didnt actually want to listen. Not even for sticks I could beat them with.

The two lads keep pontificating about a variety of subjects in a manner that suggests they feel they are tapped into the national mood or hold what is the commonly accepted/ right position on things. They do not. They grate on me massively at this stage.

It is Newstalk from Pat Kenny to Montcrief and then Drivetime on Radio 1.

I didn't hear the thing on Drive but I caught a bit on Moncrieff and majority of mannequins in big high street stores were so underweight that women wouldn't menstruate if they were same size. Male mannequins were mostly healthy size. This is not about body posivity, I wouldn't mind healthy skinny models but not something that can be only attained by damaging one's health.

Sarah told us Nightline has been taken over by UPC, which puzzled me because UPC has already been taken over by Virgin Media in Ireland, and it's not exactly a like for like takeover. Turns out it was UPS....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,351 ✭✭✭✭Harry Angstrom

Now she thinks Lasse Hallstrom is a woman. It really is as bad as college radio.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,811 ✭✭✭zoobizoo

    First time tuning in.

They're reviewing the new alien movie.

Sounds like a poor college radio attempt at zoo radio.

One person tries to be devil's advocate. Lots of voices talking over each other.

    No actual critique.

    Pointless and annoying.

Who in the **** thought it would be a good idea to have Henry McKean on this show. Stealing a living.
Really is a poor show with no chemistry between the hosts and just a complete borefest of a radio programme.

Henry McKean has a file in a bank vault somewhere with a lot of dirt in a lot of people. That's the only possible way he could still be broadcasting.

....and yet he's still better than Williams. Mad Ted.

Drive has gone very formulaic. The aim from every political interview is to get a sound bite, any sound bite, that they can lead their next news bulletin with. Once you listen with that in mind it's obvious that the need for this sound bite overrides any quality and drives their questioning. Sarah tried it with Paschal Donoghue a couple of nights ago and he wasn't biting; she then started making assertions that weren't actually accurate (fake news?) and he really showed her up for the liteweight she is. You can tell when she's flustered or caught out as she reverts to defensive teenager mode and sounds like she's a split second away from stamping her feet.

I've started listening to RTE Radion 1 instead but it's worrying how low quality that has become as well. Radio presenters need to understand that listeners (well this one anyway) are not interested in their opinions but want news and quality content.

It's not great by any means, but I still prefer listening to it than to Hook on the way home.

Henry is very good interviewing people on the street. I enjoyed his coverage of Prince Charles' visit to Kilkenny. Very open-minded - just what we need in Ireland - a good time for the country to show its friendly side.
