We'll if we get 3rd, Arsenal are more than welcome to 4th. In fact I'd go as far as saying that would be my preferred option. Liverpool 3rd, Arsenal 4th, City and Utd in the EL, with Utd not winning the EL this season of course. If Carlsberg did the end to the season...

I'm tired of seeing Arsenal in the CL as it's become so predictable at this stage, but if it keeps Wenger in the job (and keeps the 4th jokes alive), I'm all for it.

I was 99% certain we'd be in 5th place goin into game tomorrow, turns out we remain 3rd .
    AMAZING !
A win tomorrow is a huge step towards 3rd place now ! A few goals would be a bonus.

Given hoe competitive the pl is I don't think perennial CL qualification for a few years is overly realistic, not just for us either of course.

Christ I sure hope being in an out of top four isn't part of the long term plan!

I think City and Utd will spend a bucket of money regardless and be a popular destination for all but the most top level of footballers whether or not they're in the CL.

Arsenal missing out could **** them up for a long time.
It could mean losing their best players, not being able to compete with us for targets, and a general moderate sized implosion of the club resulting in them being out of the race for a few years.

From our perspective, I definitely think Arsenal is the one we want missing out.

We should totally throw caution to the wind tomorrow night and try to rack up a score to press the goal difference advantage... :pac:

Am I the only thinking of Crystal Palace here? :)

I'd say you'll be devastated if we win.

At 34, we might as well buy Willem Dafoe.

Sooner buy Modeste as he's 3 or 4 years younger.

Up to the players whether we shît the bed or don't tomorrow night, it's on a plate for us, have we got the bottle?

There's this other lad. Plenty of grit and quality but a similar underrated shout.

    From La Liga.

Think his name is Iago Aspas or something.

If Aspas knocks United out of the EL then I'll love him regardless of anything else.

I'd take Defoe in a heartbeat as a backup striker. Need a large squad next season.

Im sure Defoe would bite your hand off for the opportunity.

I always liked Defoe would be a great man to bring on for last 15/20 if chasing a goal.

Defoe's had a good year but I'm sure there are far better players we can bring in, even as back up, over the summer.

I know, it sounds bad but if you think about it........ Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs & Liverpool.

At least two of that 6 have to miss out on Top4 every year.

Plans are all well and good.

Surely speed is a very important part of defoes game and he is at an age where he will be losing that. It is different for older players who rely on strength and height and stay at the top of their game for longer.

We have the backups - Firmino, Origi, Ings, in that order.

    We need the starting CF.

Firmino is the first name on the team sheet (after Lovren) if you are Klopp

    I'm thinking...

Spurs lose today, get beaten by United, fall apart last few games az they are wont to do...

    We could get 2nd....

EDIT and so much for that idea....!

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    Fook that my friend.

Defoe has more goals than any of our forwards despite his age and a distinct lack of service.

The very idea of Origi or Ings as being ahead of him in any pecking order is nuts.

    Also, let's sign William Dafoe.
