BBC4 first showed the above last October. They are repeating it next Saturday and will follow it with a first showing of the second film in the series on Saturday 15th.

It was ok but I won't watch it a second time.

I really enjoyed it myself, probably will watch it again, though obviously knowing the plot detracts from repeat viewing, looking forward to watching the second one anyway.

Shame if people do watch it for first time they read this thread and see the spoilers (appreciate its a good couple of years old, but so were the spoilers until now)

That's not a spoiler. WHY she was there, now that would be a spoiler!
I'd say if one viewer in a thousand read this thread, that would be about the height of it ......

She's not supposed to BE anywhere though after all that time though is she, other than pushing up daisies.

But I know what you mean. Sonja Richter (Googled her name obviously) is very good in it anyway.

At 10.30 tonight, a rare TV opportunity to see the short Buñuel/Dali film, Un Chien Andalou - judging by the Wikipedia entry, probably best viewed through one's fingers!

Dunno what to take from that! He liked hands of one sort or another. Lots of close up of hands, hands on the floor, hands with ants coming out of them. Hands groping.

Weird but strangely gripping. (like the hands)

I've watched all 3, via an "alternative" source, and the first one was the best of the bunch in my opinion.

There is a new comedy series Bucket (4x30min) starting next Thursday at 10pm.

Mim (Miriam Margolyes) is an eccentric free spirit who believes 70 is the new 40. Fran (Frog Stone) is a reserved high school history teacher in a rut. They are also mother and daughter, and their relationship is not exactly easy. When Mim reveals she is dying and wants to go on a trip to fulfil items on her bucket list, Fran feels that she has no choice but to come along for the ride. Fran and Mim have to try to come to terms with their past and their future as they tick off items on Mim’s preposterous list, one by one.

Has Pioneer that's on tonight been on before? Plot sounds familiar.

    I don't think so. BBC4 usually say if it's a repeat.

    BBC One - Pioneer

    -

Hinterland series 3 starts next Saturday.

Think it might have been on Sky Movies.

Edit: Yeah, it was on Sky Movies Select. Wasn't a fan.

I'm enjoying Bucket - corny but Miriam Margolyes is hard to resist!

She's as mad as a box of frogs in real life so don't think it's a stretch for her!

I'm sure they'll repeat it - want to get in on the ground floor - ep1 was already gone before I could record it.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

It received excellent reviews http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5275892/ http://www.espn.com/30for30/ojsimpsonmadeinamerica/

Looks like the full almost 8 hours are being shown on BBC Four over 3 episodes Edit: Seems to be 5 episodes http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04sh539/episodes/guide

Will deffo be watching it again. Hopefully it'll spread the word for one of the best series of any kind in recent years.

Been watching OJ: Made In America (one to go), it's just breathtaking. The whole thing - cynicism dripping from so many of the protagonists esp Johnnie Cochran, Barry Scheck and Carl Douglas. White was literally made black in one aspect. The prosecution was inept and my thoughts on Judge Ito remain unprintable! You can only feel for the family of Ron Goldman esp.

Nice one Harry, totally agree about the OJ Documentary - absorbing viewing from start to finish. One of the best things I've seen in ages.

I don't think I've seen that old Desert Island Discs tribute, looks interesting.

Quite an uninspiring, clichéd trailer but I'll still watch it.

Not a programme but a death - given the apparent age cohort on this thread this seemed a good place for bad news - Brian Cant has died at 83 (quite a bit older than I imagined him to be) :(

    tKuS4n4gBrian%20Cant.jpg

Apart from Play School and Play Away he was the voices of Trumpton, Camberwick Green
and the less remembered Chigley and as such he'll always be a clear voice in my head :)

The only channel I'd pay for (assuming I had to pay for access to just one channel) contains any number of gems from their imported dramas to series about things like box containers, Jonathan Meades and post-modern explorations of the postcard.

This week things get of to a strong start at 9 pm with part 1 of Light and Dark presented by Prof Jim Al-Khalili - about the Universe we can and can't see.

This is followed at 10pm by Time Shift which looks at the case of the spy Kim Philby and following that Mark Lawson chats with author John le Carre - BBC4 is screening the classic John Irvin directed adaptation of Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy starting on Tuesday at 10 pm. So basically set your PVRs! :)
Concur,, great channel,as was BBC 3

Did anybody watch Cardinal? I recorded it but my mind is being twisted by David Lynch and Twin Peaks at the moment so can't really focus on anything else right now.

    Is cardinal worth watching?
