They'll beat Arsenal and they play Spurs in 2 weeks when the league will likely have been won. And Southampton aren't great. Once they're mathematically safe I doubt they'll be much cop.

Where's this optimism coming from, lads? Don't do this to yourselves.

Is the United Spurs game not the last home game at WHL before moving to Wembley? They will not want to loose that.

    I think so too.

Why all the fear? Utd will not win all their remaining games. Tonight's result not bad for us.

No reason we can't go to Watford and win. If we can't do that then we don't deserve top 4.

Why would they want to lose it anyway?

Spurs are a much better team than Bore-inho's Utd.

Spurs will want to put on a show for their last game at the current lane so you would think

I'm not saying they'd want to loose it I'm saying Spurs will be even more up for the game seeing as it's the last game at WHL.

Think arsenal will get a point at worst at home against utd. Im more worried about our own games anyway

They may also somehow still be fighting for the title...

They may be but it's hard to see Chelsea losing from here.

    Because..............................Liverpool.

Just on the new home jersey.

Would it be too hard for the designers to keep the crest, sponsor and brand all the same color.

Either all gold or all white, they managed to get the keeper jersey right, why not the home jersey.

Just a little bug bear of mine.

It's a very nice jersey. Will probably buy it, and I haven't bought one in years.

I don't see why the crest needs to be the same colour? My bug bear is that they don't actually use the full crest! I find that very annoying.

I am more comfortable watching other teams playing than us now. It gives me more confidence. :o
Pity we made a mess of the season post Xmas & haven't really recovered.

If we don't get 4th now we don't deserve it. You would expect a champions league standard team to be able to take say 9/10 points from games against Watford, Southampton, West Ham & Middlesbrough, which I would think would be enough to finish ahead of United.

    Fully agree.

It's just very difficult to be confident in Liverpool. We always screw up the games we should win.

I think the jersey crest is why nicer than the current club one which is too busy, tacky and dated whilst the Liverbird is timeless.

We didn't screw up the two games before Palace.

Those were very difficult games on paper though. Palace had "win" written all over it, therefore we lost of course. It's the Liverpool way.

Palace game did not have win written all over it as Allardyce has them organised, playing well and winning games. Only lost 1-0 to a red hit Spurs too.

Combined with Benteke coming back I was pessimistic about Sunday.

I didnt mention Palace specifically, I'm talking more generally.

That being said, we should have beaten Palace. They were led by a castoff striker of ours with another castoff in Kelly in CB and they were even missing the inspirational Sakho. But... No.

I think we have blown 4th already if i'm honest. I think we had to beat Palace.

This has to be a wind up right?? If not it's such extremist nonsense!, which is the worst kind of nonsense imo. Hands up who honestly thought we would get 6 points from our two away games against Stoke and West Brom...nobody predicted that. With that in mind we are still in as good a spot right now as most would have thought we would be after Stoke away, West Brom away and Palace at home. Therefore if you thought we had any chance of top 4 before those fixtures it would stand to reason that we have as good a chance now. I don't see what's changed since then, Utd were always in with a good shout of getting 4 points from their home game against Chelsea and Man City away.

I like the crest with the inclusion of the Hillsborough memorial. It's a major part of the clubs history.

I'm not sure that really follows... those tougher games are the types of ones we won too, like.

Really, it's a lot simpler - if Utd get top four and we don't, they deserve it more than us.

I'm not sure this is necessarily true when you takes many factors into account over the course of a long season. For example, is chelsea away a tougher fixture now or during the first month of the season? Was our away fixture against Leicester on Monday 27th of Feb under brand new manager Craig Shakespeare a tougher fixture than the one Utd faced away to Leicester a few weeks previously under their lame duck manager at the time Claudio Ranieri? Of course it was, so it stands to reason that some teams can actually and do face a softer 38 games in a season than another team in the same league. All this idealistic nonsense that so called experts and many others spout constantly about things like ref decisions and fixture toughness evening itself out over the course of a season is just that, idealist nonsense. That is simply not how variance works. You can in theory have more than your fair share of bad luck for decades, never mind the course of 1 season. In fact, when it comes to luck the one things you can be most sure about is that it will not have evened itself out completely over the course of 1 season!

Well our price has quadrupled in betting land so something clearly changed.

I read this and that about United's games but like a previous poster said, I am more worried about our own games. I can see us falling apart and getting like 6 or 7 points. If we don't get too 4 after the position we were once in then it's an utter failure from klopp.

........ I can see us falling apart and getting like 6 or 7 points.............

I'm always fearful of a relapse of Jan/Feb form as Mane is out again. However, before Palace and since that Jan/Feb form we were on a very good run.......... 17 points from 7 PL games, really fantastic stuff to be fair.

Utd are 22 points from their last 10 games in a period where they've played Chelsea, Man City and Everton so the worrying thing is they've been as good as us over the last 2 months, if not better.

Now that the Manchester Derby is over we can miss out on top 4 without falling apart unfortunately.

My fear is that in the last 4/5 games when you actually need the points and know you need them can we step up? You need a bit of pragmatism and doggedness that I think we clearly lack ....... on the sideline and on the pitch respectively.

Now, we might well go on a goal fest in our four games and win them all comfortably but without Mane you'd think that's perhaps unlikely, all considered.

Let us not forget that the same Klopp had us challenging for the league up until Christmas, playing the best football in the league, and having made a profit in transfers since he came to the club a year previous.

Injuries to key players have broken our season apart, no manager would have extended the squad with how little football we were due to play this year, instead he focused on quality of the first team and that has been a success, perhaps not buying anyone in January was a big risk but Klopp is'nt going to go out and spend money on players for the sake of it, anyone he buys he buys for the long term for the most part.
I would'nt change Klopp for any manager in world football at the moment.

We aren't always going to get our top targets. If the solution is buy no one instead then its not a very good one. I'm all for letting Klopp build his own squad but I'm not going to listen to that excuse next season.
