That's hilarious. There's about $700 dollars there. He has to be winding people up, surely!

Dannis isn't on a windup, I've spoke to people from MGNY and they say he's turned into an insufferable prick in the last 12 months and it was only a matter of time before Marcelo kicked him out of the gym and they were surprised it didn't happen sooner.

He was from the start. The original stuff was serious. But the latest stuff posing with a pellets gun, posing with a few $20s lying on plastic bags.
Has to be a wind up. The fact that people are convinced it's not means he's playing it well.

    Or he's actually a simpleton.

Make yourself loved make yourself hated it doesn't matter, so long as people feel something about you. Conor has lead the way and shown how that can be monetised.

The two lads or on the other end of the spectrum though from what I see.

Conor is around 75-25 in terms of love/hate.

The two lads, especially Gallagher is 25-75 IMO

I really don't like cody garbrant and i will definitely be tuning in to see his next fight because of that. The worst thing is if people aren't bothered about you at all. Unfortunately that seems to be where mighty mouse sits.

I think there's a slight difference though. I was never a big fan of Jon Jones but watch his fights because they're entertaining, and good build up etc. And he plays a decent "heel".

The lads are painful - just painful. I don't just want to see them knocked out or what-not, just to go away in general. I wouldn't pay for a ticket or PPV either way.

Absolutely this. People that dislike these guys yet post links to their social media are inadvertently promoting them.

I didn't know that he joined bellator until he was discussed on here.

I guess it's the way of the world these days.

Conor was the path that allow him to monetise it. Signed to the UFC. Said he was going after the belt and did it.
Gallagher is in Belator, tab the tail end at that. He should be modelling themselves on Conor in CW at this point.

Danis hasn't fought yet. He was actually a phenomenal grappler imo. Training under the absolute GOAT. His only redeeming aspect as a fighter. But he fked that away.

Conor was loved by 99% of people when he shot into the publics eye initailly, nobody knows or gives a **** about Danis or Gallagher and if they did they certaintly couldnt relate to them, they are laughing stocks of the people who do know them only fans they have is Conor fans boys on who have tagged onto them pair now.

I'm not convinced. I think being loved or hated is only a good thing if you can knock people out.

DC gets boo'd non-stop yet his PPV numbers remain fairly uninspiring.

Urijah Faber was almost universally loved and his PPV numbers were pretty atrocious as well (only once did better than 230k buys).

I think making yourself loved or hated only offers monetary benefits if you can KO people. If you're simply hated for your personality and are also a decision machine or a lay-and-pray merchant or sadly a BJJ whiz, it won't translate to making more money. Go ask Demain Maia and Phil Davis.

It's why I seriously doubt this is a good thing for either Gallagher (or Dillon) to be hated for acting like cringe-worthy tools, because let's face it the only people Gallagher has been putting to sleep in his fights are the viewers. Zzzzz.

Danis and Gallagher - they'll get the usual 'hardcore' MMA fans paying attention - but beyond that nah. And their association to McGregor certainly helps (can't think of any JacksonWink or AKA prospects of similar stature with the same buzz or name regonition) - but don't see anyone going out their way to by tickets to watch them fight.

The following fanbase McGregor got together helped build him into a star - charisma, knockouts as well as trash talking.

Yeah I agree I also hate Cody and I dont get the hate for TJ. Like what? He left team Alpha Male? Is it because Conor called him a snake on TUF and people are jumping on the bandwagon? TJ seems a gentleman and he seems to be a laid back, nice guy. War TJ in the next fight, I think he beats Cody handily enough.

Conor says to Faber: "TJ is a snake, You need to watch your back with him"
Cody jumps up to defend TJ and pretends to go for McGregor. Nothing happens obviously.
Post-TUF TJ leaves TAM, goes to Dwayne's new team, who happens to be in a legal battle with Faber/TAM.
The Internet: "Guess Conor wasn't just talking ****, TJ be snaking all over the shop"
Cody wins TJ's former belt. Obvious match up is with TJ on TUF.
TJ makes his team logo a snake, posts snake memes to Twitter/Instagram
Cody looks like a dick for defending him...
    ...and go for Drama

I certainly dont think Cody looked like a dick for defending TJ. He was sticking up for a team-mate that he believed at the time was worth defending. If anything, to me, I think Cody showed a lot of integrity in his exchange with Conor.

Even at a time when the writing was on the wall for all to see, and probably even Faber had doubts about TJ's loyalty, Cody was still defending his team-mate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,377 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

He was standing up for him at the time. I meant that TJ actions retrospectively made Cody look stupid.
One of the first Tweets Cody sent after winning the belt was to say Conor was right about TJ. I doubt he cares too much about defending him back on TUF 22. It just adds to the hype now

Like if your mates all tell you your girlfriend is cheating on you. You refuse to believe it, have a big falling out with all of them.
Then a week later you walking in on her in bed with the milkman.

That ''scene'' on tuf was fabricated were Cody went at Conor I was talking to someone there and they were embarrassed having to sit through it fwiw.

I'd say a lot of those types of scenes are scripted. The scene with Cody grabbing TJ by the throat probably was as well.

Anyone see the front page of the star today? I reckon the celeb they are talking about must be conor. Seemingly he attacked some RA mans son and is now trying to pay his way out of it.

Could be actually, never thought of stokesy.

'Its understood that the individual has recently been observed in the company of some of the nations most feared criminals and their associates
This person would have grown up with some of these people and whenever he is back in ireland they are drawn to him like moths to a flame'

Although Stokes is a stout republican so cant see them having a falling out, sounds like it could be McGregor altho its a rag paper so probably completely fabricated.

Fabricating stories of people paying money to those people is the lowest of the low.

I don't think Stokes could be described as one of Ireland's top sportsmen. It's defo McGregor.
