Be nice if this came off next week. ECM not as good, will see what the 12Z shows later.

IMO GFS showing warming up each day from Tues with Thurs and Fri looking quite warm at this stage and it is showing the warm weather hanging around over the week end , a long way off though to know for certain.

Plenty of time for this not to happen of course :):(

    BRING_IT_ON.jpg

That said the ECMWF and the GFS are in accord as of now.

Have you noticed that this set up popping up more and more in FI. Maybe its something to watch. There is nothing to say we couldn't get an omega block set up for summer and have cool NE Flow. The Arctic Summer of 2017.....lol

IMO Models not building temps or holding onto them as long for next week as previous runs. The Gem looks the best. GFS and ECMWF both showing areas of LP cutting off the advancing warm Tropical airs and the HP quickly drifting towards Greenland. Still a bit to go to see if the Heights can build again and get some cross model agreement.

ECMWF has improved on the latest 0z run. Looking better then the GFS for after tues . Probably better temps on the W side of the country due to E ly winds.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 12,817 Mod ✭✭✭✭Meteorite58

IMO ECMWF looking quite good until the 8 - 9 and then the following charts, cold, windy and possible frosty nights ? yikes  Long way off yet though.

    tpCVZhp.gif

    LRJqbzh.gif

GFS predicting little rain in the foreseeable future . A lot of E'ly winds turning NE by the end of the runs. Of course all open to change.

Potential for a few Welsh import thunderstorms coming into the southeast on Friday perhaps?

Looking around Friday before any real rain moves in all right it would seem, early indications of it coming from a SE'ly direction .

It's a very shallow low though to the south west and then it disappears altogether to join up with the one in the atlantic and then high pressure comes back in till the end of the month.
It looks like there will be very small amounts of rain with this one and coming to the time because it is such a weak low it might be downgraded further and may not happen.
The only positive in this is we loose the easterly cold wind and gain a warm southwesterly.

Edit: Maybe this should be in the "Will it ever rain again?" thread. :p

The GFS showing the Azores High trying to push up towards Ireland on the 5th June.

    ncmd1z9.png

However, it fails so on the 6th as a trough pushes down from the northwest.

IF this happens and IF a trend like this develops as we head into June ........
I really hope this doesn't happen especially after a very long dry spell.

What kind of weather would that chart produce?

Typical Irish Summer weather, cool and unsettled.

Thanks for that.. Would it be windy or just your average day? Still Learning! :)

Well according to that chart, it would be fairly breezy but not very windy by any stretch of the imagination. We're talking about Summer after all, it's a very rare occasion for Summer to get a windstorm (like July 1988 was a major one). Fairly breezy so quite average yes.

Re that model, I did a check to see the run up to June and it's fairly unsettled. The high pressure which seems to heading towards us now suddenly shifts to the right towards central and southern Europe whereas Ireland seems to have the low pressure from the artic heading straight over to us :)
    Happy days

Charts not looking very promising IMO at this stage for settled weather especially as next week progress's on into the Bank Holiday weekend being under the influence of LP systems and frequent frontal rain I would think. The week after the bank holidays at this stage looks unsettled ( way off in FI though ). The jet charts look quite fractured going into next week and then strengthen over the Bank holiday weekend into the week after helping to spin the LP's over us, hope Im wrong!
