You can sleep with QC25's 35's too it's just more tricky. you either have to lie flat and not on your side or lie on your side and slide your left/right cup off your ear that touches the pillow.

Doesn't the idea of sliding one off your ear defeat the purpose of noise reduction? I have tried soft ear plugs, and these (https://www.flareaudio.com/collections/ear-protectors) which i lost on a flight, the QC15, airline supplied noise cancelling headsets, the QC20 was vastly superior to all of them. I found myself turning them off or taking them off just to judge how noisy the environment was, I was amazed that they created such a quite environment.
As for crushing them, isn't that what the warrantee is for?

Well yeah, it does. but if your ear is against a pillow then it's not too bad, if you can wear the supplied ear plugs then place one of them in your sleeping ear. I did preface my original post by saying it's not ideal

Didnt realise those were IEM, still I wouldnt risk sleeping with them, you can still pull the wires apart if youre not careful(like me) especially after all that free booze up the front end.

And as for relying on warranty, I doubt it covers accidental damage.

I've been using them for years now like this, no problem, they are very sturdy. They aren't quite deep in your ears like me previous Etymotics, if you pull the cable they mostly just pop out of your ear.

Just to add to the Amazon Spain route, my headphones say they were manufactured on 22nd February 2017, just in case anyone was worrying that they may be old stock.

Anyone have any idea how much these would cost in a Bose factory outlet store in America? Or how much it would cost to buy them factor restored?

I just cant justify paying €300 for a pair of headphones. I would love to be loaded all the same and splash out!

This is my work supplied headset, so the QC35/25/20/15 are relatively cheap.
https://www.bose.com/en_us/products/headphones/aviation_headsets/a20-aviation-headset.html
And I would look like a dork if i tried to sleep with them. :)

Was in a factory outlet last December and they were $349 no discount at all.
I had picked up a pair of QC25 a few years earlier in the same outlet at a good discount and was thinking of a pair of 35's but didn't bother.

Very nice :D

Interestingly this is how these Bose sound isolating headphones started out. Bose developed the tech for commercial use by pilots and ground staff.

In time they released the tech for consumer use and we can all have a much more enjoyable flight now. It really does make such a difference.

Herself was in the states a few weeks back and I got her to check in the Bose outlet if I remember no huge price difference from the "duty free" price in Dublin. I got my pair this week from amazon Spain as mentioned by a previous post 311 with express post at the door in 2 days

I can confirm - was in Vegas recently in a Bose Outlet store and the factory restored price from memory is about $315 (tax to be added on)

For anyone not willing to splash out on the QC 35's - the Samsung Level On wireless are recommended in many places as a budget option (e.g. here http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-noise-cancelling-headphones/) - they dropped down to 81€ on Amazon France over the weekend.

According to rtings.com review, their sound isolation ability is quiet poor.

-12dB at bass frequencies will do very little to help on an airplane.

This is often the case with anything but the Bose and now Sony headphones. I suppose better then nothing, but if you can, better off saving towards the Bose. Keep an eye out for deals on the QC20 and QC25's

Actually for cheap ones, these look really impressive:

https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Cancelling-Ear-Bud-Headphones-RP-HC56-K/dp/B00C19125A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492511912&sr=8-1&keywords=Panasonic%2BRP-HC56&th=1

Rtings results have them almost as good as the QC20's!!

Not the best sound quality, but really good sound isolation numbers and they cost just $56 (+$20 to Ireland), very impressive.

for anyone in the states it's worth checking CEX. I got a mint set of the QC25 for less than $130 including tax in New York. Not one sign of use or wear on them. I wouldn't chance getting them delivered though as they could send a well used pair.

Just don't use any of the included Bose software :)

^ wow!  Not totally surprised to be honest, there's enough of these disclosures on a regular basis.  But using the app is the only way a totally mobile user can upgrade the firmware.
PC users can upgrade via a plug-in app.

Screw it. Just bought the 1000x's. €300 is great value when you compare it to €400.

Thanks PE.

I don't think they can be compared to the ANC headphones being discussed in this thread as they don't appear to have ANC.

Yep I was there last week and price remained the same.

I don't do a huge amount of regular, long haul travel and have no real need for proper noise cancelling headphones so really couldn't justify the price but had a wee win in the casino and wanted to buy myself something nice so compromised and got these for $190 dollars (inc tax)

Not the highest spec, I know but perfectly adequate for my needs, really happy with my purchase. Definitely more comfortable and beat the pants off using the pair that came free with my iPhone on the way over :pac:

I have to laugh, our aircraft are equipped with Bose A20s which are awesome noise cancelling headsets IF you put a battery in them, it always amazes me that none of my colleagues have worked this little fact out.
