I'd like to see who else was up against her! What a shambles.

Was wondering that myself: I think this is the list of 'nominees'.

    Caitriona Balfe - Outlander

    Elaine Cassidy - No Offence

Anne Marie Duff - Murder: The Lost Weekend

    Amy Huberman - Striking Out

    Ruth Negga - Preacher

The Indo is always trying to big her up. Some agenda going on there for sure.

Amy's role in Striking Out was about as bland as a gone off Avocado!

Makes you wonder who she was up against for this award....

Dont know if there is a thread for the IFTA's. But what is the deal with Deirdre O'Kane's voice? Sounds like a robot!

It's the same high pitched voice, all the time.

She played the part but it definitely wasn't an Ifta winning role.

Striking Out was watchable but overall was mediocre. It could have been so much better if it was thought out properly. Irish drama has a deliberate restraint in it these days as Striking Out, Rebellion and Clean Break showed. No room for cat shooting lowlives or violent pool in prisons or crushing skulls with kegs in any of these. I feel RTE listened to critics of its excellent drama for being too violent and then have turned out deliberate restrained tame fare ever since. If SO was made in 2012, it would be a hard-hitting and violent criminal law drama.

Also has she had work done on her face, a bit of botox?

She's funny but didn't think she was great at the IFTAs

To be honest 3 on that list look like they have real careers in the acting world. No offence to the 4th as I don't know her but wish her well. The lady that won tried to have a career outside of Ireland, didn't manage it but needs a bit of propping up. Having a famous Hubbie is a big help in that regard. She's welcome to her award. I'd say Oscar-nominated Ruth Negga isn't losing much sleep on missing the IFTA nod this time.

How was Deirdre O'Kane booked to compere an evening like that?

An industrial grinding apparatus would provide a more soothing sound

Was delighted to see Colm Meaney win an award for his part in his new film "THE Journey" Seen a bit about it on Tuesdays Channel 4 news and it looks quite good.

No, Ann Marie Duff. I can't place her or the show but I wish Ed a long and successful career.
