Eureka is very annoying. Why is it that I always hear her voice talking loudly over everyone else no matter what the topic is. She's just so extra. I'm glad Charlie told her to be quiet.

Regarding Lisa Kudrow's cameo. She was a guest on the What's The T podcast and Ru asked her to come on the show but Lisa didn't want to be a judge as she didn't want to critique the girls and just wanted to say hi basically so I guess this is what they came up with.

Really love Valentina. I think people are sleeping on her because she's young and only being doing drag for a year but honestly if she's this polished after a year then I can't wait to see where she's at in a few years. She seems like such a lovely person too that it just makes me root for her

I felt sorry for Jaymes. He gave a better lipsynch than Kimora, who's face didn't move. And all she owns is stripper catsuits. Basic.

    Just watched episode 3
    feckin delighted Kimora went home,
I thought she was on borrowed time since last week. Peppermint was my favourite this week, and I also enjoyed Charlie Hides. Completely agreed with the bottom 3 this week, but in fairness to Aja, she absolutely dominated that lip sync.

Never has the phrase 'lip sync assassin' been more apt than with this episode
Yep also glad Kimora went. Hated her from the Meet The Queens and still don't like her. She's a lazy queen who thinks that being pretty and fishy is all it takes. I mean she's ok but she's not even the prettiest one there. I would say Valentina or Farrah are above her.

I see Valentina is getting a lot of hate online. I can't understand it. They think she must be fake because no one can be that nice all the time. But Cynthia is like that and she doesn't get ripped. I think it's more to do with the fact that people thought she was a filler queen and didn't expect her to slay like she has whilst pre Season faves like Shea and Sasha are not winning challenges. That's just my opinion. Biased of course because I love Valentina and want her to win.

Aja showed what a fantastic lip syncer she is but that makeup was rough!

Also how hot is Cheyenne Jackson! What a beautiful man.

My friend had a little viewing party tonight so not long home! Some thoughts.
Really enjoyed this episode! Feels like the first "real" one to me. The challenge was great. Top for me would have been Peppermint and Trinity. Trinity totally deserved the win imho. I think a lot of people are sleeping on her but she's a pretty accomplished queen. Looking forward to seeing more from her.

Kimora deserved to go home. As others have said, I haven't liked her since Meet the Queens came out. Her lip sync was so flat but I think most people would struggle to keep up with Aja anyway. She was GREAT in the lip sync. I'm just concerned if Aja doesn't listen and doesn't come out more polished she will be out in the next couple of episodes.

Also Untucked to me was HILARIOUS. I lived for Aja's salty as **** rant about Valentina. She wasn't wrong. Valentina's look was pretty basic. A swimsuit with extra fabric. Other queens have been read for that in the past. Her make up was flawless but that was the highlight for me.

I just binged watched this show over the last few weeks. So many hilarious moments. Seasons 5 was probably the best season with Jinkx, Alaska and Alessia Edwards (Back rolls ) followed by All stars season 2 which gave us some of the best Katya moments and well as one of the best Snatch games. Alyssa Edwards only knowledge of Joan Crawford seems to be from Mommy Dearest and Alaska taking Mae Wests more suggestive catch phrases and making them literal was hilarious. Also special mention for Jinkx's Little Edie in season 5. I was just surprised anyone else even heard of her let alone the hilarious impression she did.

I enjoyed the other seasons too but they were missing some of the stronger comedy queens for me. I'm more interested in the comedy aspects of the show rather than the runway looks etc. Just caught the first few episodes of series 9. So far Valentina is my favourite but I'm a sucker for a quirky underdog :D

A couple of questions, why don't the queens design their runway gown around the possibility of lip synching? So many costume problems in the lip synch that could be avoided, one of the queens Friday, that wig was ridiculous.

Secondly, when a queen goes on about a comedy queen she means ugly queen. All queens have to be comedy queens, all queens need a schtick, otherwise you're just a 'little latin boy in a dress'. Being pretty as a queen is irrelevant if you cannot perform and the queen that left didn't perform like literally, face, eyes, mouth, dead. She just walked around.

I'm so disappointed with Charlie Hides and Peppermint, i had high hopes, I've seen both these queens live and they are great but Charlie (That white ball look was so generic) is doing a lot of whining and Peppermint is hovering in the back of shots seemingly unable to jump into the action.

I'm over Osama Peach Brown, she peaked at the Peach!

With the rise of Instagram and YouTube, drag queens these days do not need to be club performers or lip syncers. You just need to be able to turn out fierce looks.

Look at Miss Fame. She's become a crossover star appearing in Marc Jacobs fashion campaigns and never, or rarely, performs in clubs.

Drag is different these days and it's Rupaul's Drag Race itself which has helped the rise of the social media queen.

It's personal taste as to wether or not you appreciate this type of drag but it is the modern times we live in. You just don't need to be a club queen to be a success

I'm not loving Season 9. Aja is annoying me with her awful make. It's the first where some many of the Queens have acne. I feel so sorry for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,629 ✭✭✭Hunchback

I'm enjoying it. But I'm enjoying it the normal way normal people enjoy normal programmes, as opposed to utterly obsessing about the bestest programme ever and literally counting the days until the next episode like i did last year for s8

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 465 ✭✭billion dollar baby

This is the first season to be broadcast in HD I think? Not 100% on that. But that's probably why you are seeing Aja's acne.
I'm noticing a lot more boy makeup on them just in the workroom than before and also the lacefront wigs are very clockable too

It's VH1 now so HD exposes the cracks

I honestly think it's going to get better and be one of the best series so far. It's just a slow start tbh because they haven't tried to accommodate the 14 queens (s5 had a 60min premiere and s6 had a split premiere) so it's episode 4 and we have 12 queens but other series had a much lower number by episode 4 so it'll only get better from here I believe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Rick_

The show has been in HD since it started in 2009. I know Season 1 didn't look like it, but it was recorded in widescreen HD and Netflix had it for a brief period.

On American television, the show didn't go out in widescreen 720p until Season 4 and now with the move to VH1 I believe this is the first ever 1080p outing, but Amazon Prime etc. in HD for years.

My copies of every season are all in widescreen HD, even Untucked, and all uncensored too.

I think having so many queens is hindering it a bit but it should pick up pace soon. I'm disappointed in the lack of Sasha so far. She's just in the background. I'm hoping she gets some more airtime soon.

Yeah the lace fronts are really bad. I think it might have been Peppermint on episode 1 who looked like the whole piece of lace wasn't even stuck down.

Aja's acne scarring wouldn't be half as noticeable if she just laid off the shimmery makeup. You can contour and highlight without using shimmer!!

I've not been impressed with her so far tbh and yet every small thing she does the fans react with "SASHAAAA :D:D:D:D" or they're saying she should have been top 3 every episode so far and I just :confused::confused:

Her princess look was an oversized pillowcase and a cage and her white runway was ill fitting with a flat wig (stay bald chicken).

While I do agree with the above, I thought that in terms of the 'mythology' that the queens had to create in respect of their characters, Sasha's was the standout story. You could imagine that it could easily be fleshed out into a full length saga and not only that, but that there would be some sort of a moral message at its core, if that is your thing (its not really mine - i prefer postmodern ****e or nihilist entertainers)

    That lip sync though!!!

Like. Awful. Last weeks was cringe enough to the point of laughter but that queen would have stayed if up against this weeks disaster. She just gave up. Glad to see the back of everyone so far though.

Also what did ye make of Eurekas comment to Valentina. I actually broke my ass laughing as it was quick witted but i do understand if Sasha had an issue with this subject. I get the feel there isnt a lot of love for Eureka on here but no harm in a little shade it was just her being funny and sarcastic and quick but i dont think she had the intenion of insulting her or hurting her or anyone else and i dont think she is jealous or anything personal to valentina like the way aja does :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,096 ✭✭✭Reiketsu

I don't have an issue with a joke but it was ill timed and fell completely flat. It was the apology that wasn't actually an apology that pissed people off the most.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,922 ✭✭✭snowflaker

If it was a little well timed shade, then yes. But Eureka just spews forth non stop loud mouth bs.

She reminds me of a prize pig at a fair- that won't stop squealing!!!

She needs to go soon- so many do! It's too short a time for so many queens. The runway way over before it began

    Maybe VH1 wasn't such a good idea???

Delighted that Charlie went. I was surprised that Ru didn't pull a Tyra on her after that 'performance'. Incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful.

Honestly think Eureka is pretty ignorant but on this occasion I think Sasha totally overreacted. Everyone deals with things their own way and some people use humour (or an attempt at it) to deal with sensitive issues, and just because you have experienced some trauma doesn't mean you get to decide how others handle theirs IMHO. Eureka's response though was off base. I was confused by the difference I felt between the main show and untucked in terms of Trinity v Eureka. In the main show I thought Eureka was completely out of line, but in Untucked it seemed like maybe Trinity had been a very poor captain. My problem with Eureka is that she comes across as deliberately abrasive and loud so even if she is saying things that need to be said it is hard to take it as fair and/or honest.

Aja vs Valentina is seriously irritating now. Aja was showing herself in a very poor light, she was really trying to bully Valentina. I'm glad she seemed to recognize that when confronted. I hope that she desists as the show progresses. I'm not sure how much longer she will last. If not for her group she would have been in the bottom two I think.

Also why was Farah Moan basically not in this episode and said like three words in the whole of Untucked?

What kind of queen says that they can't lip sync? This is Season 9! Why on earth did you bother auditioning then. It's like when queens say they don't know how to sew or construct an outfit. This is Season 9! You know what's expected of you and if you can't do that then get the F out of there and let someone else have a go.

I said when giving my thoughts on the Meet The Queens that I didn't think Charlie was a a good drag queen. I feel that she is more of a celebrity impersonator. I just don't get Drag from what she does. When you put her up against fierce queens who get what the competition is about she falls way way short.

Eureka is very loud and annoying but I don't think she did anything wrong this time. I think she tried to make a joke that didn't land and Sasha took it personally. Sasha was hypersensitive and took things far too seriously. As Eureka said 'there are other eating disorders besides anorexia and bulimia' so who's to say that Eureka hasn't experienced that.

I don't think Sasha overreacted at all, she's allowed to not find things funny. She wasn't rude about it either. However Eureka went straight into defensive mode and made it about something it was not instead of acting like an adult. All she had to do was apologise. Who's to know if Eureka suffers with anything or not but if that was the case you'd think she'd be a bit more sensitive to other people's thoughts and feelings on the subject. Just because she might be okay with it doesn't mean everyone else has to be. I think it boils down to miscommunication more than anything perhaps.
