Wouldn't it be ironic if Sauber got the Mercedes engine deal from under McLaren's noses?

Just desserts for the reverse at the end of 1994.

Only for the day that's in it I'd say it would look the part.

I'd like a McLaren easter egg and chocolate f1 car for easter
Good that Alonso is on board... drivers might be a bit fatter by the end of the year

I'd be surprised if he is back before Russia.

Giovinazzi is doing his own chances no harm though for 2018 or even sooner.

Which one of the 2 brings more money?

Pascal has Mercedes backing and is yet to race a Ferrari engined car.

    Anyone suspicious?

Look at Alonso missing only one race a piece in 2015 & 2016.

He was in bigger trouble on both occasions.

Something else is going on here.

I think he is just a diva to be honest, he is getting laced on Twitter by ex-drivers and press. Half of the MotoGP grid race with broken bones, Lauda did it after he was nearly burned alive, Justin Wilson did it with a trapped nerve in his neck, Coulthard raced after a plane crash, Mark Webber after he had pins in his leg.

Granted, your suspicions do carry some weight to them I believe. It's good to see an Italian on the grid again anyway.

Schumacher did and only found out years later when he got an xray on another injury

Why is China next up and not Bahrain?

I am not surprised in the slightest, Force India had a choice between Wehrlein & Ocon for the second seat. They chose Ocon who has less experience, both had tested for the team so plenty of data to evaluate. Wehrlein was slightly quicker when they were head to head at Manor but there were rumours about his attitude. Giovinazzi did a super job given the circumstances in Australia. This will do his chances a lot of good. Also have to assume that Sauber's long relationship with Ferrari might have some bearing on the situation.

Why is China next up and not Bahrain?

Makes more sense logistically I guess. Instead of shipping from Australia to Bahrain and then back to China.

Seems like Giovinazzi will also race Bahrain.
On Wehrleins Twitterfeed he was doing fitness training, so maybe this is where he was short?

Spot on, I remember Coulthard finishing second in Spain just days after that plane crash, didn't Olivier Panis have pins in his legs for most or all of the 1998 season after his crash?

There's more to it than a back injury unless he is copying Juan Pablo Montoya with his injury in 2005.

I don't believe it is his back.

Alonso as I mentioned previously would have had more reasons to miss races in the last 2 years.

Negotiations not going well for Sauber Mercedes in 2018 already?

Sure if they don,t get Mercedes engines for next year and decide they don,t want to stay with Ferrari engines either then there is always Renault and Honda who they could get engines from. They have said they have talked to Honda about using there engines in 2018 too but nothing is confirmed yet. If Sauber do decide to go with Honda I really hope Honda will have got there engine problems all sorted by then because if not it really would not help or benefit Sauber in anyway. Mclaren are a big company and will survive. Sauber as we all know are much smaller and less time out on the track because of engine issues would really not help them at all.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I believe it is his back and lacking fitness as he pulled out of Melbourne, Sauber didn't tell him to do it.
For the engine rumours, Mercedes is paying for him to be there, as Ferrari is for Giovanazi. We will see how both develop but the young driver won't have a big influence in their engine for 2018 I think. They might get a Honda for free, or a reduced Ferrari/Mercedes rate. Renault I don't see in the mix.

I agree with the drinking out of the boot, that's vile, but the smile clearly isn't fake. Funny, generally easygoing bloke.

AnneFrank, have you been hiding in a cupboard? Danny Ric is one of the most genuine drivers on the grid. He is refreshingly honest. But yes, drinking from a shoe is manky. What's worse is someone else drinking from his shoe. That's just plain wrong altogether - shame on them!! :D
