'Tis just the initial lineup, the under card will double in numbers and there'll be more headliner types along with the body and soul stuff.

The best years I've had have been when the line up is mediocre. There's no rushing around like a madman trying to catch a half hour of someone, then rushing off to get a half hour of someone else. It's nice to just mill around the place without the stress levels at 90 from fear of missing something.

The Can Project (two surviving members of Can + special guests) would be bloody amazing but highly unlikely.
That would be beyond brilliant. Hadn't heard about it, just looked it up and seen that Debbie Googe, Thurston Moore & some others are playing with them. Looks like a one-off at the Barbican but it seems cruel not to tour with that bunch of musicians.

Yup, last year was brilliant IMO, Lemaitre and Phosphorescent were highlights, especially when I had 40 winks on some blokes shoulder in front of me at phosphorescent. Some mad Welsh guy as well was great craic, stopped signing half way through a song because he thought it was too boring, brilliant stuff.

Hi guys, I am an EP regular for several years, I was looking forward to the line up immensely but have found it underwhelming, don't get me wrong I have found some gems over the years I hadn't heard of and look forward to the same again but when you compare the line up to others its not great. bands I will see on the first announcement are

Madness, car seat headrest, soulwax, phantogram, Kelly lee owens and goat girl. That's not much for a major festival. No doubt body and soul line up will save the day. Any recommendations on what Ive mentioned, please don't say Kiasmos, it would like be riding an elevator all day.

Floating Points looks a winner to me, but I'm a sucker for 4Hero style dance/jazz noodlings.

First I understood it to be them was reading some piece on the Glastonbury line-up. It'd be quite the coup & doubt the will would be there from Festival Republic compared to the Eavis's but I'll maintain a flicker of hope. Might be our best chance if the performance at Glastonbury creates a buzz in the aftermath.

That's at least two gigs then, the first next week, so hopefully some bookings from that. The Glasto show gives us an outside chance, but for EP they'd surely need to be booked before the end of June? Thanks for giving me a flicker of hope man.

Not really sure of the mechanics on the booking side at all but aye here's hoping!

Jaysus, wouldn't be bothered listening to that for an hour. Fast talking and repeating their names over and over. No thanks.

Them repeating their names over and over could have something to do with the fact the song itself is called "run the jewels".

    Bloc party please

Think someone said they were talking to someone from the band and they said the Trinity Ball is their only Irish show. Hopefully they do turn up

Perfume Genius could be worth a look for anyone, but it'll come down to where he's playing.

Headlined Body & Soul last time he was here and was superb, but previously played in one of the tents and was totally lost.

Very excited for the new album though.

I have a sister in London that was great friends with Syd Barrett, she told me she was talking to Gilmour and he mentioned playing in Ireland in early September.

He played longitude last year and got a good crowd in one of the tents. Excellent live performer

Nearly as bad as the time I suggested Kate Bush had been booked in the Electric Picnic forum or on here when I said EP was sold out in 2010. :D:D:D

Thanks for that. I never got into RTJ, mate seen them during the week and thought they were great live, I have a broad taste, love everything from metal to techno. I'm probably guilty of not giving albums enough of a try, if I'm not gripped by first 3 or 4 tracks I move on. downside of Spotify. Heading to The Jesus and Mary chain next week, the new album is very good, I expect they will be added to the picnic line up.

Yeah, she doesn't know Gilmour, did know Barrett though and used to visit him when he was in the mental hospital, some mad stories about him.

    Sorry.

I don't know Charlie, i don't think I'm gonna be up North West of the country this year but maybe you should start a thread for the 2017 edition, line up doesn't look bad although a lot of the same acts played last year too.
