Amazon.ie: time for Amazon Ireland?

I just bought a small book from Amazon.co.uk for £6.36. plus a massive £4.02 in post (I'm in Dublin, and it is being sent from Galway). I won't be repeating this.

It's quite clear any benefits from a weak sterling are not being passed on to us by Amazon.co.uk, and over the longterm we are always going to be at the mercy of the British exchange rate. Why do we not have an Amazon.ie yet? (they have a dedicated site for The Netherlands, which has a population of only 17 million, so it's not as if Amazon is only serving countries with populations of 60 million people or so.)

With the British beginning the process of leaving the EU next week, we are most probably going to be charged taxes and tariffs go leor onto existing prices - if Amazon must continue in denying us an Amazon.ie, it's at least time to give us the option of buying through English from another Eurozone country. Amazons prices for Irish people are only going to increase if the current arrangement continues.

How do you know its sent from Galway? either way internal Irish delivery is ridiculously expensive. I have often got stuff delivered from China and it would have cost far more to send it to my neighbour, and I am talking about the postage costing more than the combined Chinese product AND postage cost.

I nearly always go about £25 to get free delivery, you can sometimes get free delivery below that too.

    German amazon have english,

    https://www.amazon.de/?language=en_GB

for others you can translate using websites, or there are probably plugins.

Why not order directly from Galway? Probably Charlie Byrnes or Kennys.

Also use An Post Address Pal to save on UK delivery charges.

Thanks a mil for this tip!

I priced Sennheiser HD 201's (as I couldn't find them anywhere in bricks and mortar), and .co.uk were charging a whopping 33.35e (converted with current rate). And that's without shipping.

Just ordered them off .de delivering to My Address Pal for 26.85e. Somehow it was cheaper to deliver it to there instead of to the door, even with paying 3.50e when I collect it from the Post Office! Mad.

Bookdepository (owned by Amazon) have free shipping I think.

Don't forget to price your item on the various Amazon websites. .co.uk, .es, .de, .it and .fr There is a .jp I think also.

I bought a watch a few years ago and it was the same price approx. on all of the websites except the .es
I got it shipped to my door about 50 EUR cheaper, when compared to the other Amazon sites.

There was a site that would search several for you at once, dunno if it is still operating. Sometimes sites will code it in a way that these sites no longer work.

Population of 4 million is way too small to set up an Amazon store. Especially when you take into account that most of us already use Amazon UK. They wouldn't be gaining too many extra sales

All they would do is make everything 20% more expensive, and ship it from the UK anyway.

    This one, I think:

    https://www.curiua.com/

It seems to check ebay now, as well as Amazon sites.

I've gotten some bargains on the French and German Amazon's using the site below...

    https://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/

Just click on the flag at the top to switch between different countries before doing a search using an Amazon ASIN product code.

Use a browser plug-in called shoptimate to compare different Amazon prices - it was developed by a Belgian who are in a similar position to us
