Had been waiting for the sequel to 'The girl with all the gifts', but the wait is over :)

Two releases this month that popped up in my Goodreads inbox look intriguing.

    The Collapsing Empire (John Scalzi)

Would love to get back to a new Scalzi-verse. I got weary of the Old Man War one five books in.

New York 2140 (Kim Stanley Robinson)

The last 'flood' book I read were the "Flood" books by Stephen Baxter. Makes for a really interesting premise, I thought.

Pity Scalzi and Robinson have such boring writing styles, Robinson in particular, although I did like Aurora recently.

I tried to read Aurora but I hate the way it's written in the present tense (At least the first pages were) "She does this and he moves there". At times that works but not continuously. (Simply IMHO of course)

Philip Pullman - Book of Dust (Now a new trilogy as opposed to a short story collection. Parts 1 & 2 finished)
GRRM - Winds of Winter (Although interest is waning)

I haven't read book two yet and I'm hoping for a promotional discount in advance of book three. I'm getting it regardless - will allow me then to read the third book without a real gap.

I'm very interested though in the next series he's working on - a trilogy around the Jain...

He's one of the few authors that I don't mind paying full price for (the amount of half read series I have waiting on a discount is ridiculous!) so I have it pre-ordered and waiting impatiently for tomorrow! Initial reviews are positive so fingers crossed.
