Storage heaters: Old vs New efficiency

We heat a holiday home with storage heaters.
On the night rate, it costs €900-1000/year to run three of them.

Two of them are very old - over 40 years. My question is, are modern storage heaters likely to put out the same heat with less power consumption?

    Thanks for any advice.

Can you put in a stove burn wood and coal?

They might be better at distributing the stored heat over a longer time period but in terms of overall efficiency no.

It's not an option, as we're only there occasionally. The storage heaters are mainly to ward off the damp. Very old house, no damp proofing in walls.
