After 3 and a bit months living the BMW life, I grew bored of it. Great car, really comfortable, absolutely spot on but theres no fun when your seeing countless clones of the same car everywhere you go, and having 3 identical E46's in the work carpark was only confusing. Anyway, flicking through DD on Tuesday lunch time, I must have taken leave of my senses and somehow veered into the Alfa section, and fell weak (it was definately a lack of food) for a wee GT. Few texts flying back and forth and the next night I was sitting in my very own Alfa Romeo. 2litre petrol, and naturally being an Alfa its got a few niggly bits to sort, but no matter what needs doing, all I've gotta do is turn and look at it and it all makes sense!!

was there no Alfa GT 3.2 Bertone available :) ? Always had a soft spot for GT. What's the interior color ? Yellow or red ?

Colour/wheels/brakes combo is perfect on that alfa!

    ****ing nice that.
If you can't leave the car without looking back at it then you've made the right choice.

First of all, I would like to apologize for so many Golf pictures in such a short period of time and I do realize it's not the most interesting or aesthetically pleasing car, but being mad about cars and having passion for photography is a dangerous combination. I wasn't too happy with the pictures I posted previously so I went out and got some better ones, however they could still be better. :P Also if you had told me two years ago that I'll be driving a diesel car and enjoying it, I would have laughed, but after driving a few, seeing what they are capable of, I actually am enjoying it. :)

I've always liked the mkIV Golf, while not terribly exciting, it's a very handsome car and very well engineered. It has also aged very well and yours looks like a very tidy example

The velour seats in my mk4 were so comfy, only problem was certain clothes would almost stick to the seat.. best tank i've ever owned :D

There's a 1998 Golf (dark green) for sale at a garage down the road from me here. To look at it, you wouldn't think it was a 19 year old car.

I bought a new car as if the fleet was't big enough! The worst thing is that it's a "double up" in the collection being another 156... However there is something very very different about this one...

She's a 2.5 V6 and as you can see the bodywork is rough! Mechanically though it is an absolute peach even with 160,000 miles on it. Interior is also immaculate black leather too. It really was maintained regardless of cost throughout its life and it really shows (but not on the body :P).

I must wash it at some stage and get some decent pictures of it. In the current ones it's Gollywog pink :pac:

From a fellow Mk4 enthusiast I would highly recommend a set of GTI rear lights. Will transform the look of the rear, and can be got for small money.

A TT ARB upfront will transform the handing.

Yeah, I've been thinking of doing something with the rear lights. They're too bright and colourful. :pac:

Cheers for the Alfa love lads, seems like their getting popular again round these parts. I decided to get ahead of the game, and buy one with a broken handle already there, the front mounting point on the passenger side having given up the ghost, and looking through the history, it seems the drivers one went a few years ago. A new pair of taillights arrived today as the ones already there seemed to be held together with sellotape even though they were never hit.

Alas, I've also got a full blast of the other side of Alfa ownership, that being that they are a truly gorgeous sight when broken down, a few hours from home. Decided to drag the GT to its 1st rally on Sunday, but she was like 'nah'. Came off the motorway in Thurles and the clutch pedal went to the floor and decided it didn't want to come out of gear any time I started the engine. Its gone to 'the Garage', but its an excuse to dust off the Puglet, so I'll have 500 miles this week of pure straight through deafening roar bliss

    Ah the notorious slave cylinder.
Happened to me in the 156 in traffic... crawled to stop.
It was a sunny day so I lit a fag and just watched the day go by.
    Best breakdown I've ever had.

Just curious, I remember your thread about trying to sell it. Did you manage to trade it in?

Cheers lads, lots learned and lots of changes still to come. Hopefully get out again on track this month, but I'll be up against it. How did your own car go afterwards Cheensbo?
