England have two very tough games ahead in light of this

If Ireland get 8 points from the last 2 games and England get 5 ( 4 against Scotland, 1 against us) then Ireland and England finish level on points. Who wins the championship then? Head to head? Tries? Points difference ?

Was points difference 2 years ago. I don't think that's changed

  • Stealing Dave Rennie's you mean.

Personally I think Poite's had a good game

the whistle before Nowell 'scores' was a big error though. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if TMO said no problem at the breakdown.

Ah the Chiefs never took it to this extreme.

It goes to points difference and then tries after that.

Not a word on the knocks at the line in the rolling maul, nor Hartley's lack of leadrship, nor Farrell's shítshow. Take a bow ITV.

Hugh Cahill's anti-England rubbish is grating to listen to.

I don't hear it, unless you're talking about how rightfully said the crowd as a whole didn't know the rucking laws.

Great game by Italy, they can be very proud today.

For his I'm the referee not your coach comment, he's gone up in my estimation immeasurably :pac:

Well I wouldn't call a 36-15 win over Italy as a taking to the cleaners.

"Did they deserve it Donal"? :)

When they won by 21 points...

Fascinating game, every credit to Italy for throwing the cat among the pigeons in the first half

Italy did well for 60 mins but England still had enough for them while being very average and moronic for long time in the game.

Delighted for Conor O'Shea. Eddie Jones saying they were going to take Italy to the cleaners was uncalled for.

    absolutely not.

Good effort from Italy. Threw a curveball at England and really got to them.

Don't think the result was ever really in doubt all the same.

Barring unusual results next time out, wins for Ireland and England (just 4 match points each) will mean advantage Ireland going into the final weekend. Any win would do as a 4-1 match points win for Ireland would leave it level on 18 points each, but Ireland, by virtue of the huge win in Rome have a significant advantage in points difference.

I'd like to hear why he blew. Given that there was an infringement, could be the mistake was doubting himself.

True. And I don't like it this extreme. Don't mind seeing it done to England but would rather not see it in general.

I have some shepherd's pie to help me soak up the gin I consumed during that before I talk to much but - horrible match to watch, but great entertainment, and even better to talk about.

Ok England got the BP, but that was a good day from our POV now.

PD is heavily in our favour now and unless England beat Scotland by 20 points, which they could but not on any evidence I've seen so far, a simple win over Wales means an 8 point win over England will give us the title assuming England get the BP win over Scotland.

It was certainly more exciting than the Sunday borefest I was expecting

Scotland beating England would make the last weekend really interesting.

I enjoyed that. Italy will still finish the campaign with 0 points.

So England are still the only six nations side Italy haven't beaten.

    It would ???

I thought it was still advantage England. Ireland less likely to get a bonus point against Scotland than we are against Wales or England. So England still with the nose ahead.

Is our explicit strategy now not that we must push for a bonus point win against Wales ?

Hartley was "confused" by the Italians not contesting at ruck time lol

And according to him we only won against them in the last ten minutes

    What planet is Hartley on?

Ireland only won in the last 10 minutes apparently

What I was saying is no bonus points for either team next time out would result in the scenario I described (Ireland on 14 and England on 17 going into the last weekend). On today's showing England will be lucky to beat Scotland never mind get a BP.

I'm wondering what game Hartley played in after that interview!
