Got snipped today in the Molesworth Clinic. I was very nervous but it was close to painless, the initial anesthetic was the non-injection type and was like a small flick, after that I didn't feel a thing. Over in about ten minutes. Got the bus home and no discomfort yet.
Doc said about 25 ejaculations to clear out the swimmers, so that's my next goal.

Thanks for this - have been looking at this clinic too. Was there much pre-consultation and/or psychological questioning or was it simply paying for a service that you wanted once you understood the permanency of it.

Not much, although I have 4 kids and I'm 36, if I was younger and less kids maybe it's more of a deal. I had a quick chat on the phone initially and got booked in, then a chat for about 20 minutes on the day then snip snip.

It's day 4 now and still no pain. I have to say I'd recommend this place, €450 all in. Wish I hadn't been so nervous.

    21 ejaculations to go now

My appointment was cancelled 2 weeks ago because the doctor was sick. Its rearranged for Thursday. My wife told me today she's a week late and had a positive test.

    Talk about irony.

Did you get much of a chance to relax and do nothing? I'm in shortly and I won't get any peace after. Missus says she didn't get a break after pushing it out so suck it up!! ðŸ˜

Not really,I was laughing because he says "go home and take it easy, do nothing" but I'm here because I've a stack of kids and anyone who has kids can't go home and do nothing.

Do a bit of a limp and you might get some sympathy. On the plus side, over a week now a I'd say it's completely painless.

I had mine yesterday. There was a bit of pain getting the injection and I felt slight pain and some pressure when he was doing the procedure but it was grand. I had a good laugh with the doctor and the nurse was great. They really made me feel relaxed. I had a slight pain/tingle for a couple of hours in the evening but I'm grand today. A little bruising is about the height of it so far

I got in the car after and drove back to work. Just for an hour. Then back home. About 4-6 weeks of discomfort. Tracky bottoms and proper cup underwear. Its feckin horrible. Nothing short of horrible. No pain here althiugh they warn you repetitively about post vas pain. Quite a high percentage (maybe 4-5%) get it and have to go back to get sliced again to relieve pressure. Local anaesthetic is best i reckon although being awake and seeing whats going on through reflection of surgeon light overhead wasnt the best thing that ever happened me. Ask for a strong sedative/painkiller beforehand from the surgeon. Itll calm the auld nerves. Rough times

Jaysus I must be one of the lucky ones. I'm exaggerating a limp to try and get a bit of sympathy

Cheers for that, will take the plunge in the next while. In my 40's and have one kid and that's enough. Will report back when it's done.

ok so I'm fresh meat. Went into Molesworth this morning at 11.30 and was out by 12.15. Painless besides the slight pinch of the local. Walked back down to get the bus from O'Connell St. Only really sitting down now.
I have crohns disease and because of my medication he prescribed anti-biotics, and i've taken some paracetamol.
    Jockstrap on.
Will let you know whether the pain kicks in!
But would highly recommend that fella.

Was there much of a waiting list?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,814 ✭✭✭peteb2

Well I booked about a week ago . It just depends what day you are looking for. I'd say Fridays get booked up pretty quick .

I agree about recommending him. Although I only had one vasectomy so I can't compare but it's completely painless and he's sound. Definitely knows what he's doing.

Still no pain. I presume I'm safe at this stage?

No pain here either. Just the discomfort, rawness, rubbing against leg, dressing wound, weeping, antibiotic due to suspected wound infection, loss of manliness, contemplation of getting breast augmentation surgery now that im an elective surgery eunuch!!!! Just weeks of discomfort. Not at all pleasant, and certainly not better than a kick in the nads :)

Lads I'm due for the chop in a few weeks. Screwed up my scheduling and I'm due to go away with the lads for a night two days later (no activities outside of a few pints). Don't want to reschedule either event if I can get away with it. All things going well, will it be OK

Hahaha. I would be inclined to say no tbh. Unless you are gonna keep it sensible enough. I wouldnt be getting hatchets or nuffin.

Oakshade; Keep both appointments! Good god; He's snipping through a couple of tiny little tubes. Not smashing ye testicles between two wall bricks! LOL-1.gif

I honestly think I'd advise more consideration if ye were saying ye were having a tooth removed! ;)

If I see bricks, I'm running for the door 😀

    Thanks Gents, appreciate your perspective.

I had mine done with Dr. O'Keeffe last year and I couldn't recommend him highly enough. All done in 15 minutes with minimal discomfort. Staff are lovely and he really puts you at ease. The anxiety beforehand was the worst part by far and afterwards you'll be wondering what all the fuss was about. Any other questions just ask.

I was fine. I had it done on a Friday so I got to spend the whole weekend on the couch playing PlayStation and watching movies.

By Monday I was back at my desk. There can be a little sensitivity for a couple of weeks but nothing a few painkillers can't handle. The most uncomfortable part to be honest is the bloody hair growing back!
