Wi-Fi Extenders...

    I bought a new washing machine recently (bare with me) & to take advantage of their online discount I have to spend a little more... I got 10% off, but had to spend over a particular price....

    Anyways... I used the opportunity to get a wi-fi extender. Haven't ever paid attention to them before & never considered getting one, until I needed to add an extra 20e to my basket.... So here is what I got: Netgear 2700

    I intend to set it up so that it uses the main wi-fi name and password... but am wondering if that causes any issues with devices switching between hotspots etc... is there anything I need to worry about or control.

    My apartment is a veritable hive of wi-fi activity, so I don't want to upset any of my devices...

    Yes, wifi extenders can cause issues with device roaming and reduce performance.

    I'd generally recommend against them, specially in an apartment, really shouldn't need it and they are more trouble then they are worth.

    Instead a good quality 802.11ac router, set up in a central location and high up on top of a shelf, cupboard or bookcase should give you great performance and much less issues.
