Reports mcgregor mayweather is done deal.. no reliable sources reporting it yet though

Brand ambassador role not doing much for Rolls-Royce. Have just announced a loss of 4.6bn.

They received a 600m fine for bribery and they had to write down their currency hedges by 4.4b due to brexit. Not much McGregor can do about either of those.

The Irish Sun are reporting this as a done-deal and it's Barry Moran (again) on the headline.

This is the same guy who quoted Dizz as a source for McGregor taking time off - because we all know Dizz has Conor on speed-dial . The same guy who reported the FBI were investigating a fan for a "death threat" (which incidentally was a stupid twitter joke by a Diaz fan). Same guy who wrote an entire article citing sources that a murderer was singing Westlife songs in prison .

Let's be real here - the number of people close enough to Conor to have inside info is a handful. Lee and Derek Dunphy, Audie Attar, John Kavanagh, Charlie Ward, Dee Devlin. That's pretty much it in terms of his everyday circle. I can't see any of them being a "source" for The Sun.

Plus the article itself claims "it's a done deal, with stumbling block being a 3rd party". Sounds like the definition of a paradox to me. Done Deal and stumbling block lol. If by some miracle he is right up to a point then yeah, that whole thing about Conor being under a UFC contract is a pretty big hurdle.

It's just a no-lose clickbait article. He might be proven right eventually and he can claim the scoop. If proven wrong, nobody remembers (except me lol) or cares

I don't think he was ever a brand ambassador. RR gave him and his entourage two "loaners" the weeks before and after UFC 205, including the (in)famous NOTORIOUS Rolls Royce Ghost with the decal of his face on the side.

Along with the LadBible, Joe.ie, SportsJoe.ie, Joe.co.uk, SportsJoe.co.uk, BenchWarmers Inc. and other reputable publications.

It's a done deal folks - get booking those flights!

Starting to look like a done deal. I was unsure about the whole thing but I have decided to embrace it. My only hope is he doesn't take the cash and retire. If he ain't in a ring or cage I'll have no interest in him.

I think if he can pull $40+ million he'd be mad not to retire. If this happens I'd be surprised to see him back in the Octogon.

Is there really anything stopping them making this fight though in reality? They can just take a similar approach to how the Mayweather Pacquaio "fight" was agreed. That involved 2 different promoters, different TV networks etc. and they got it done, with Pacquaio taking less money.

The only delay in making that fight originally was Mayweather waiting for Pacquaio to look like a shadow of his former self. There's substantially less risk in a boxing match with Conor.

I really didn't think this fight would happen, but where there's smoke, there's fire.

Obviously the big hold up also was pacquaio refusing usada drug testing for years.

Conor *should* be able to pass the performance enhancing element of the usada testing...

    I wasn't being overly serious.

When Dana came out saying there's more chance of him being back-up quarter-back to Tom Brady at Superbowl 51, that was as good as saying this fight is a certainty to happen :pac:. He made similar comments denying a potential sale of the UFC last year and less than a month later it was sold. He made similar analogies over a Brock Lesnar return and weeks later it was done.

However, there's still a lot to block it in reality. It's not just 2 different promoters in this instance. It's promoters from different sports. It's not like the Premier League and La Liga coming together. It's like the ATP and PGA Tour coming together. So, not only do they have to resolve the massive conflicts (purse, tv networks, PPV split etc) they'd then have a lot of small issues to iron out in terms of the event itself.

The fight card is one of the smaller issues that could be hard to resolve.

Dana is on record as saying the UFC would want MMA fights on the undercard, probably to appease their fan base and not look like they are selling out. Floyd & Showtime are on record wanting a boxing undercard, probably to promote his stable of boxing stars and hit their own demographics.

Dana will want big names on the card from the UFC's end. I'm talking as many from this list as possible: Jon Jones, GSP, Nick and Nate, possibly Brock and, probably, Ronda. He would need at least 3 from that list and it makes perfect financial sense to do so.

Go big or go home on this one. A stellar MMA undercard will do wonders for the UFC fanbase and I genuinely believe the right undercard could add up to a million buys, a lot of whom might not be willing to part with $100 for the PPV to watch Floyd "school" Conor. If it means giving Brock, Ronda and Nate $10 million each then so be it.

Put it another way, there's not a hope we're gonna get Yair Rodriguez v Max Holloway on an undercard. It's got to be the biggest stars available to the UFC.

Floyd fights twice a year, we all know that, and this year the only option remaining is September 17th. It's pure fantasy to think they can get this fight arranged in the next few weeks with all the hurdles left to clear.

Sure, Conor is meeting Bob Bennett to do his anti-bullying commercial and to do a private sparring session for Bennett to "prove" he has legitimate boxing skills to a) deserve a license and b) deserve a hypothetical bout being sanctioned.

That's a mere formality. Bennett isn't an idiot and the fight will bring enormous money to Vegas.

What is not a formality is getting Dana White, Ari Emmanuel and Patrick Whitesell together in a room with Audie Attar, Leonard Ellerbe, Al Haymon, not to mention Conor and Floyd and lawyers on all sides, to get this done.

That's a lot of egos for one room. Getting them in the room is the first challenge. Getting them to stay in the room talking is another challenge.

Conor can try go the Ali Act route but I guarantee win, lose or draw that'll take years and is not worth the hassle. The UFC will bring an army of lawyers and make Conor's life miserable trying to win that battle.

The only way this gets done anytime soon is if Floyd is secretly hard up for cash. If he is, then he might cave on some of the terms relating to the fight card. If he isn't then this is going to be a long, drawn-out process.

I'd be very surprised if this fight is announced before summer.

    What odds would he be?

Have to be a heavy, heavy favourite.

1/10? 1/12? Probably even lower than that tbh.

1/50 at the very least and I wouldn't be surprised to see 1/100.

    Nope.

The odds have been out for a while around the 1/10 mark (paddy power for example). Fill your boots.

Mayweather has commented in case ye all missed it, laughed off suggestions anything has happened. Said if and when something does happen HE will be the one to announce it and let the rest of the world know (which is standard Mayweather MO) and when Conor posted a pic to his instagram teasing him he responded to him directly telling him if he wants the fight to go handle his business with the UFC and then have his people (McGregor's) call his people (Mayweather's)

"People say ‘go with the flow’ but do you know what goes with the flow? Dead fish."
