Not sure what you mean, it'll be a monthly payment but you won't have to do anything

Ah grand. Didn't know whether it was recurring or not.

So at the moment you'll have to resubscribe every month?

No they take the payment every month until you them to stop.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned, but the new website looks to have some videos from their live show back before Christmas. The fair view and a video of Tadhg Furlong interview it would seem...

The latest episode is appearing for me in the old (free) podcast, but not in the paid for podcast.

Same for me. Using Pocketcasts for Android.

That's because it's one of the two free pods per week, no?

I have it in the free podcast, while a welcome message has popped up in the subscription feed. I'm not expecting to see an actual pod there until tomorrow.

Was about to comment on this. I was hoping that all the podcasts would be in the one feed, I assume it will resolve itself over the next few days.

Update: looking forward to them not playing the announcement jingle in every podcast too... It was great the first time, I think it's the fourth time I've heard it today now using the various feeds...

It all feels a bit like they were rushed into this move somewhat.
Seems so. When did they first mention the "big news"? Just over a week ago? And nothing before that.

Pffft, should be well over that by 11. I expect a big enough surge when they release their first Podcast today. No idea what number they will finish on though.

Yeah, it'll be way over what I said. Plenty of people will wait till they get home to subscribe too.

Yeah, guess it's part of sales pitch and will stop being used soon as it is quite long... What's the music behind it though?

Completely agree. Totally over done and grandiose piece of audio. You'd swear they'd discovered life on Mars or fixed the health service - crazy impossible things like that.

Todays launch has been a bit of a mess but always going to be teething problems starting out. I've tried two separate Podcast apps on iOS and had difficulty accessing any of todays pods. I'm getting emails from Patreon to say they are available but they didn't appear on either of my podcast apps for a long time after those emails. The football show is now showing in my old "free" feed but no sign of the other despite it being available to stream direct on patreon. Not sure if this is a problem with the way the RSS feed works but its pretty crap in comparison to how it worked before. Hopefully it all gets sorted and i'm happy to pat €6 or so month for their work, its my number one podcast.

They said on Twitter that the patreon link was slow to update as it was the first day but it'll be fixed tomorrow.

How many subs will they need to survive?

I am a big fan of the Podcast but I can't justify paying for podcasts.

If this is a precedent going forward for podcasts then it'll mean having to spend e20-30 to cover what I'm listening to now.

I find it hard to believe they can't survive of the current set up, they have one of the highest rated podcasts around, surely there's a decent living to be made.

Having said all of that, if they can make more money of this model and have the numbers... more power to them.

I just hope this doesn't back fire on them.

They say +vat every time, it isn't a fixed 1.20 as it's dependant on where you live

2668 subscribers is decent going for day one, id say they are hoping to hit 5000 and then level off at around 3-4000 in the long term. It'll be interesting few months for the lads, i look forward to the "premium content" to see if it's worth it.

Looks like they've nothing to lose, it's either make a go of this or the dole/McDonalds/whatever

2718 subscribers right now. So that's €13,500 per month or €163,000 per annum. When you consider this is just day 1, and the podcast revenue won't be their only revenue stream (I expect to see more merch and more paid for live shows), seems like a great start.

A touchline audio feed, Ken would sign up; nice bit of sublimal advertising.

There is 6 is them. After overheads that's not going to go too far.
