Driving back from visiting family today and for the nearly 1 hr drive my wife and i had a bit of a heated discussion.

She asked what i'd do if there was a T-Rex right in front of me, i told her i'd ram it and probably break 1, if not both, of its legs, she said this was impossible.

Now i know i'd mangle my car to bits but i'm pretty sure that i'd break a leg or 2 driving at 70mph.

So AH, would i break a leg or 2?

Here's the important info that she said must be included

    1. I'm driving at 70mph in a Ford Focus
    2. This T-Rex is healthy and in it's prime, in her words it's not a geriatric T-rex with a walking stick nor is it a juvenile

She also said that she would abide with any decision you come to

    Would i break a leg or 2? 69 votes

Same as hitting any very large mammal today, you'd end up killing both yourself and the T-Rex

You do know that T-Rex and all other dinosaurs are extinct? And when they roamed the earth cars hadn't been invented?

It would be the same as a child driving their battery operated remote control car into my foot. So no, it'd probably only piss the T. rex off

You'd break its leg, it would fall on top of your car, you're dead, T Rex still gets to eat you and limps for a while.

The last thing I'd be doing is driving towards the T-Rex

Cars these days are designed to crumple, so I think you'd be out of luck. Driving fast AWAY from the dangerous predator might be a better plan.

T Rex weighs 5-7 tons. Focus weighs about 1.5 tons. Add the momentum of 70 mph and you're both screwed.

What if it was a Bull African Elephant that was in front of you.

Which would come off better, the car or the elephant?

Can we get some info, is the T-rex allowed to move? What if he gets his head down?

Forget elephants , rhinos are the ones built like tanks. Stronger legs. Can take up to 107 tonnes on the leg bones.

Of course the T-Rex might simply lift her leg and then stomp down hard.

Is that the Field museum in Chicago? I saw a full size T-rex skeleton there years ago.

I reckon the T-rex gets a busted leg and the Focus is fcuked but the rear seat passengers will survive. I recommend the front seat occupants do a 'tuck 'n roll' if ye are to have any chance of survival.

Or jump into the back seat before impact.

But what if this T-Rex raises it's foot?

    He'd just stomp the car.

You'd want to check how the Focus performs in the Moose test.

Probably better off with a Volvo or a Saab.

The owner of the T-Rex might be liable?

You shouldn't be driving under the influence.

If the T-Rex was on a bike, it'd be his own fault...

If you did, it would keep a road kill cafe in meat for years.

I thought T-Rex broke up after Marc Bolan died in a car crash.

You know some Volvo's are just remodelled Focus's?

    It isn't THAT big.

Nice one, guess i'd mangle both legs then, sure i'd be toast too but at least i'd win the argument and that's what matters most

    Cyclists wont use cyclepaths.

    The T-Rex should eat them.

How long will it take until someone turns up to point out that a cyclist never killed a T-Rex?
