Win2000 or not Win2000?

    Okay,

    Ive seen it myself, looks great, handles nicely, microsoft might finnaly have an OS. But, use it for gaming yet ? Whos tried it? your thoughts please before I go off and format my hd.

    everyone I know who has installed win 2k, on a games platform has uninstalled it after a week or so.

    Well, I'm waiting for Windows Mileneum Edition (2000), according to M$ it's more suited to gaming/multimedia etc.

    mp its great as it has good IRQ handling in it, it dose not have the best drivers for it as yet, but there is a large driver data base on the cd.

    i have a voodoo 1 so ummm, well u know....

    i got an unofficial v1 driver and it works pretty nice, opengl games lovely, glide games mostly lovely, direct3d i havent actually tryed yet coz im not sure bout this voodoo 1.

    if ya want real evidence go here

    I've evaluated it at work and I have to say I'm impressed. At last, a device manager for win2000. Most h/w is detected but only very popular h/w is installed. I'd advise getting the latest win2k drivers for your stuff first.
    I'm gonna dual boot it at home before commiting.

    eric 3 of the comps here in the gaff run it, im sticking with 98 till i get a more powerful cpu but for q3 if u have a 500 or better go for it. some comps loose a small bit of performance and some give the same numbers as 98 but ive never seen it outperform 98 in games.
