Amazing piece of work by Polygon, give it a read if you have some time on your hands.
Doesn't matter if you don't like FF7...but if you have any interest in gaming history it's worth a read.
With Final Fantasy 7 now approaching its 20th anniversary and a high-profile PlayStation 4 remake in development, we decided to look back.

Over the past two years, Polygon tracked down more than 30 people who had a hand in the original game and asked them to tell the story of its creation. Below, in their words, you’ll find a story about a company in transition — and the money, politics and talent that pushed it over the edge.

Great read! Interesting to hear that One Winged Angel was inspired by Igor Stravinsky's - The Rite of Spring. Did a youtube search and its clear to see its heavily borrowing from it! Really cool!

Its 30+ minutes long, so skipping through it to find the bits that inspired One Winged Angel is recommended

Been meaning to give this a read but it's so long! I need to set some time aside for it. Hopefully it's quite candid, the FF7 development was a mess and that makes the best stories but sometimes Japanese devs aren't open about the development process.
