Tenerife?

Has anyone any experience of this crowd in Tenerife? Or anywhere else?

Looks good. .. Except the meal on Teide at night at €140 each.

Update: I booked a tour of the Teide solar observatory and treating the wife to a visit as well (she'll love it

) €21 each.

We had our tour of the site. It started with a video on the solar system and some of the radio wave/ xray work being done.
A walk around the site and a look at the sun.
Ended with a look at their 1m mirror scope. It took 90 minutes all in.

The wife enjoyed it!

Was the night sky as dark and as clear from there as you were expecting?

Isn't there a part of Kerry that is one of only 3 gold tier dark sky reserves on the planet.

Only two other gold-tier reserves have been awarded: the Aoraki Mackenzie (New Zealand) and NamibRand Nature Reserve (Namibia, Africa).

Has some cloudy nights and only got to see the sky from my terrace. It was fairly high up so LP wasn't too bad.
Amazing skies. Saw more of them at 3am the this morning driving to the airport:) everything was so clear.
Would have loved to been on Teide at night with a good scope.

I could seen the Orion nebula with the naked eye..All be it fairly dim.

Isn't ballycroy in Mayo trying to go for dark skies as well.

Pretty sure I know a spot in achill that would qualify too but it's always bloody raining.

I'd be intrigued to know what Kerry has that other parts of the country don't. I was in Donegal recently and there are so many places there that are pitch black at night due to remoteness. I'm sure the same could be said for parts of Mayo and Galway too.

I thought their was 3 here but the lough Gur in limerick one hasn't been granted yet.
