Ethernet "Unidentified network" issue

So I was trying to get an Ethernet socket in my room configured yesterday, and I was messing about with my router, taking wires out and trying new ones to try and get the one one upstairs. (Here's my thread on the issue http://touch.boards.ie/thread/2057693548/1) When I was finished (and failed to establish a connection upstairs) I put all the original cables back and went back to my computer. Next thing I knew, my Ethernet at my desk wouldn't work... it would connect, but not completely. It would have the yellow warning sign beside it, and when I troubleshot the issue it would cut off completely and say "Network cable plugged. I have this on video.

So, I plugged it in, it said it had an issue due to "unidentified network". I troubleshot it and it just changed, as if I had no Ethernet plug in the system. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have been having this issue for a day now.
