Booking.com prepayment refund?

    Hi all,

I reserved a few rooms for 10 people in a hotel in Majorca today. On reservation I was under the impression that my card wouldn't be charged and would only be needed to secure the reservation. This evening when I checked my internet banking I discovered I had been charged 20% of the total fee, which when booking for 10 people you can imagine is quite a large amount! I chose the free cancellation option when booking and have since cancelled that booking. I'm just wondering will I get that amount refunded? And how long does it usually take?

    Thanks

I'd say 5 working days or so.

Same thing happened me, but as opposed to 20%, it was the full amount!

Owed to a few cash flow problems for a while!

Yeah, they are definitely getting sneakier as to what you pay up front. I had a thread about this back in October. Still use them, but not don't trust them the way I used to.
