This was the most dangerous situation I found myself in last year.

On the M18 between Limerick and Ennis, near Exit 10. The driver of the black Hyundai Getz clearly has not checked for other traffic before beginning to overtake.

The driver is 18 at best, but the car shows no L plates or N plates. He is wearing earbuds so using the horn was probably a waste of good electricity on my part. The expression on the drivers face was absolutely vacant - you'd wonder if anybody was home. A candidate for a drugs test in my opinion.

That said, some blame for creating this situation must go to the creepy crawlie in the Peugeot. People like him who drive significantly under the speed limit force everybody in their lane to overtake... and the odd driver is not up to that task.

(Apologies for the rattling noise, it's the dashcam)

did he actually make contact? Even the way he flicks off the indicators nonchalantly.. nothing to see here... wow

 Boy if you had hit him in the rear right at that speed he would have had a massive shunt. Would have taught him a valuable lesson in checking mirrors that he wouldn't forget quick.

Imagine cruising along at 150kph with no time to escape!

He was already beside me when he began to overtake. Couldn't have rear-ended him even if I had wanted to.

You were too close behind that Avensis, stay a little further back and give yourself time.

No, he didn't make contact. As the situation happened I had this type of adrenaline rush that instantly kicks you into 200% alert mode. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion. I kept 2ft away from him and I remember the inner dialogue: "Fine boyo, if I really have to I will drive onto the grass but I really hope I don't have to."

This lasted just seconds. The hectic klicketyclick on the dashcam buttons at the end of the clip reveals a certain nervousness setting in after the situation was over...

    One from today.

Very good stopping on those tyres, what make are they out of interest.

He is two seconds behind (at least) when the video starts. Just count the time between the cars passing the sign post on the left. Obviously that time / distance is going to cut down when the person ahead starts to break.

Bridgestone Potenza on the front and Goodyear Excellence on the back.

Happens to me once a week, but speeding is the cause of all road accidents

The second signpost he passes, which is before the other driver starts to brake, he is 1.1 seconds behind him, you can easily tell when you are too close because its hard to see past the car in front, as can be seen here.

Should probably have a viewer discretion warning here before you watch this

That was some reflexes from the 1st truck. It should be used to promote seat belts also.

Me too..... but he was hardly tailgating!

Be interesting to see what an insurance company would say here. That jeep clearly was not roadworthy with the amount of smoking coming from her. As least I think it was smoke and not kicking up snow/ice?

First attempt at uploading a dash cam video, nothing major, just the usual cut off at this roundabout which is more common than not!
