    That price.

I know others will say that's par for the course. But that's not for me. I'll use the Pro Controller or Joy-cons thank you very much.

About right for a decent arcade stick tbh, and cheaper than many from the same manufacturer.
I've got a couple of Hori's sticks, they are the type of sticks serious fighter players use.
So, I imagine Street Fighter V or, perhaps, a Smash Bros port is on the way imminently.

Does anyone know if I pre order online with GameStop will they take the place holder price of E499 straight away and refund me the difference when the real price is set or will they only charge me when the console is dispatched in March?

You need to click on the 'Click and Collect' option in order to put down a fiver deposit.

Just click on your nearest store and voilla. A deposit is yours.

I've gone and done just that! First time getting anything from Gamestop in a long time but happy to have the Switch preordered now.

The confirmation email had an estimated release date of 26th March but as that's a Sunday, it's definitely a placeholder.

Price and date are placeholders Gamestop will update and correct once Nintendo confirm details.

Oh I might just do that too. Is there a gamestop in swords still? Or would Smyths Toys be a good option? I don't want to be going into city centre on Patrick's day to collect the Switch, that's if that's the actual release day.

Maybe wait until Friday morning before deciding anything.

Sure is. That's where I pre ordered!

Thanks. Do you pay the rest in store on collection or is it taken from your credit card?

The Swords proper branch of Gamestop is long since closed, but the branch in the Pavilions Shopping Centre remains.
It's my local too, but you kinda wander in, see the prices of new and recent preowned stock, shiver in horror, briefly take a look through the older preowned stuff, then leave.
Smyth's is ok, Argos is probably the best, in terms of discounting recent releases within an inch of their online equivalents.

I'm just gonna wait until the SKUs are announced on Friday and then I'll decide who to go with.
I think it's going to be a case of who puts them up first. GameStop or Smyth's.

Just beware, Gamestop have shown form before of building packs of the system and a bundle of crap, screen covers, wipes, increasing the price by €50 and not having a standard pack available to people on the day.

Pay the rest in store on the day via cash or card.

Cool, that sounds like the best option. I'll see what the price and stuff is at the conference on Friday morning and pre order then.

Are we going to have a white Switchmas?

Only two more sleeps (one for some).

Threw a 5er on a pre-order at GS, sure can always cancel for whatever reason!

Worst part was having to register for a GS account

    Well now, boys and girls
Everyone know that Switchmas is a time, in March, when only the good children and adults who preorder will have Father Switchmas, Shigsy to you and me, bring beautiful Switch consoles to our local games retailer, or delivered to our door, if you ordered online.
Bad children and adults, who didn't bother to preorder, will be set against each other, for the remaining Switch consoles, and some may even miss out...

Might Nintendo get into game streaming for the switch?

Really looking forward to the conference. I need something to compliment my pc gaming.

I don't think the Switch needs to be on the same level power wise as the PS4 or XB1. Look at what they could do with relatively underpowered systems like the Wii and WiiU - Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Mario Kart 8 etc...

Strongly disagree with that for numerous reasons. Nintendo now in a lot of consumers minds are seen as releasing weak hardware. They'll take a look and see a console coming out that's weaker than 2 year old competition and move on. I don't like the casual consumer that buys just FIFA and COD. But they're a massive part of the market.

I hope somehow Nintendo have gone with the Pascal X2 Nvidia chip. But I don't think they have. They might have the money but I think if this is weak it'll die in a couple of years and that could be it for them releasing hardware. They're losing for lack of a better word, respectability. I'm out watching the football so it's not the best time to post about this.

Got a preorder from Smyths. Realised I'm flying out on a lads weekend for a match that day. Then realised I can bring it with me. I potentially could have the first lost Switch.

How can it be as powerful as the competition and come in at £200 with a built in portable console, I just don't see it happening. I think the rumours are true and it will fall just below the Xbox one, but I'm OK with that because it should be powerful enough to run mist games the the competition can, and better still, I can bring it to work in my Taxi and play almost Xbox one quality games on the go(car charger is something it most have available at launch)!

That OBE1 guy has leaked that Metroid is in development, but don't expect it on Friday. Not sure I believe it myself, but there it is
