    From Cork/Limerick.

Take it slow if there's any slush on the ground, although on the N20 everyone goes the speed of the slowest driver anyway.

Should be fine, not much snow forecast and the bulk of it will be in the North West anyway.

Meanwhile the UKMO overnight has dumped the route to Easterly she had yesterday as have other models

The ECM isn't out for another hour or so but will surely head the same direction on the 10th anniversary of one of the biggest model flips ever in 2007.

Isnt the gfs an easterly in fi?

Not really, mostly southerly/southeasterly and all in lala land
The UKMO at 144 looks like it's sending the high to sit over the southern U.K.
The 0z ECM at 168 is similar and has pushed the high further south and sausage shaped it blocking the early evolution of yesterday's easterly
    Quite a disappointment for coldies

What does this mean then? Another no snow show?

The easterly gone tits up again...sigh.

ArkLow understands these things, I dont Im afraid, but to my untrained eye all the models still show v good chance of snow for many in the next 48 hours and a largely cold next two weeks with a real chance yet of quite severe cold during those two weeks. We've had it worse!

I'm so sick of these lies we're being told... I'm gonna drive up north east to get some of the white stuff...

Has it though? Certainly the models not as good this morning but they havent changed that much and its not as if they are showing the Atlantic waking up. A proper winter easterly is a 1 in 10 year event in Ireland and arguably the last epic one was 30 years ago today so they are always a long shot. Nonetheless there are grounds beyond blind optimism for thinking we could get one yet this month.

Anyway back to the weather ee are actually having as opposed to what people are wishing for. Very mild blustery dark morning here today. No rain thankfully. Thought I noticed it a small bit brighter yesterday evening I always feel from mid Jan on you'd notice a bit of a difference in the evenings.

I'd see about 20 to 30 mins of a stretch going on lighting up time in the yard as opposed to before Xmas.
Very windy here all morning, but like yourself, dry and mild enough so far.

Still blowing hard up here although not quite as noisy as during the night,

We have a planned forewarned power cut from 10 am up to 4.30 here.. maddening

Still not fully light here. Dark clouds above the mountains, and a rim of light and pale blue to the west ...

Gusting up to 43knots in Dublin Bay at the moment, I'd say any ferry trips across the Irish Sea would be interesting.

The Easterly\Extended cold snap looks to have moved back west, could change again. Would think some chances of something, just not as strong.
