    Hi there
Does anyone know if there is a formal procedure or agency to contact to give up care of a disabled baby? For example of parents could not commit to being full time carers, giving up work etc
The condition was not expected but could have been diagnosed with a test before being born however abortion is not legal so this wasnt done.

If they are considering adoption they will need to contact the social worker assigned to the hospital who will be able to help.

I would encourage them to have some counselling first regarding the disability, they might be making this decision out of fear, with time and support they may find they can raise the child themselves.
